What is the opportunity?
We are recruiting for a newly formed Core Risk Management (Core RM) group at BlackRock. The group’s objective it is to advance risk management practices at BlackRock, delivering scale and resilience to the risk management platform. This opportunity is to work in the Core Investment Risk Analytics team within Core RM, which will work with Investment Risk Managers and other BlackRock teams across the globe to solve business problems through data analytics, automation, and technology solutions. The team will deliver on-demand models risk models, analytics and algorithms that enable risk management at scale and will comprise of data engineers and data / risk analysts with strong coding skills.
Core RM is part of the Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group, which provides independent oversight of BlackRock’s fiduciary and enterprise risks globally.
What you will be doing?
Being a technical specialist within the Core Investment Risk Analytics team and working with VPs within Core Investment Risk Analytics to deliver on the team’s goals on scalability and resiliency of the risk management platform.
Leading engagement with investment risk managers and technology partners to centralize and re-engineer risk analytics processes within Core Investment Risk Analytics.
Designing and upholding Core Investment Risk Analytics processes and procedures including RQA’s SDLC principles, coding best practices, scalable Python library building – allowing at-scale on-demand risk analytics delivery to stakeholders – in line with best practices and policies of the firm.
Work to propagate data visualization tooling (PowerBI) for analytical needs across the team. Be responsible for structuring and governance of data utilized for dashboards/dynamic reporting
Consistently acting as a scale operator, driving efficiency and capacity-building initiatives, including automation/standardization efforts across the risk platform.
Consistently demonstrating the BLK principles, especially of ‘One BLK’ and ‘Emotional Ownership’ and infusing these principles through your pod.
What will your team be doing?
Collaborating with risk managers and technology teams globally to deliver risk analytics and reporting solutions to inform risk management engagements across all of BlackRock’s Portfolio Management teams, leadership committees and boards.
Analysing functional and technical requirements to identify the right analytical / reporting solutions to deliver scale, best practice, and resilience to the risk platform, while ensuring output is fit for purpose.
Providing risk analytics report production support to Global RQA teams.
Focusing on data engineering, with expertise in coding, scheduling, and data visualization through tools such as PowerBI.
Testing risk models and analytics. Reporting findings and subsequent refinements.
Providing regular and thorough production status reporting.
Understanding flow of information and data between various groups and systems.
Being accountable for data, production, and report QC.

Experience building Python-based solutions, algorithms or methodologies to solve business problems
Proven experience in building visually appealing dashboards using PowerBI

Willingness to challenge processes, propose solutions and call out issues.
Ability to explain sophisticated ideas in simple but impactful terms and communicate effectively up and down the organization to influence outcomes.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and running multiple high priority tasks with senior management visibility.
Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
Flexible work schedule
3-6 years of experience in a Risk Management or Engineering/Financial Engineering division in a financial services firm.
B. Tech / B.E. / Masters. degree in a quantitative subject area (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or similar area).
Programming (Python, SQL etc.) and/or data analytics expertise.
Experience working within Agile frameworks is a plus (including tooling such as Azure DevOps)
Prior experience working with R, R-Shiny and/or VBA is a plus
