The Credit Risk Team Leader is accountable for managing the Credit Risk Team for our specific US portfolio. Responsible for timely and accurate credit risk decisions. Manage credit activities for the relevant country/business supported by the team to ensure trade debtor balances are tightly controlled and credit risk appraisal of new and existing customers is compliant to the C&P Credit Policy. Accountable for building capability and supporting change within the team in the drive for an operational excellence, professional business partnering & compliance. Support via active involvement any operational tasks performed by the team members. Mentor and develop members of the team from the technical and soft skills point of view and coordinate team activities. Supporting all of the GBS and Business driven projects with Credit Risk knowledge and with resources.

Key Accountabilities
Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of credit risk analysts;
Coordinate and allocate tasks and projects to team members;
Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment;
Provide training and support to junior analysts and other team members;
Credit Risk Assessment:
Oversee the assessment of credit risk for new and existing clients;
Ensure the accuracy and consistency of credit risk evaluations;
Develop and implement credit risk models and scoring systems;
Strategy Development:
Support the development of the credit risk policies and procedures;
Implement strategies to mitigate credit risk exposure;
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of credit risk strategies;
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyse credit risk data to identify trends and potential risks;
Prepare comprehensive risk reports for senior management;
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies;
Collaborator Management:
Maintain and develop working relationship with Cross functions internal or external GBS;
This position’s primary interfaces are:
Internal
BP GBS Credit, Collections, A/R & Accounts Payable Team
BP Local Country or Regional Finance Team
BP Group Treasury
Collaborate with other departments to align credit risk strategies with overall business objectives;
Communicate effectively with collaborators to explain risk positions and recommendations.
System Support and knowledge:
Understand related ERP systems and support ERP enhancements and developments;
Support and drive GBS and Business related projects;
Mandatory Health and Safety Requirements:
Aligning with all BP’s Health or equivalent experience, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) policies and procedures including, wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE); accident, injury incident and near miss reporting; and the correct use of equipment
Aligning with all HSSE directions of your line manager or HSSE Manager
Participating in HSSE training and discussions, workplace inspections and audits, and assist in the resolution of health and safety issues as required
Contributing to successful implementation of HSSE programs and initiatives
Aligning with BP’s Code of Conduct, taking a professional and disciplined approach to working with suppliers, to ensure transparency, consistency and fairness. Our procurement and supply chain management principles are always applied within that framework and in the context of relevant laws, presidential decrees and other regulations
Raising an immediate issue with the T&SL should any concern come to light regarding the ability of a supplier to meet BP HSSE standards.
Essential Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in credit risk analysis, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of credit risk models, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., SQL, Excel, SAS,)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
