The Role

Oracle Database Administrator at Kyndryl are project-based subject matter experts in all things infrastructure – good at providing analysis, documenting and diagraming work for hand-off, offering timely solutions, and generally “figuring it out.” This is a hands-on role where your feel for the interaction between a system and its environment will be invaluable to every one of your clients.

As an Oracle Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing Business As Usual (BAU) operations across production and non‑production environments. You will ensure the stability, performance, security, and recoverability of Oracle databases, while supporting development teams, applications, and business stakeholders.

You’ll perform routine health checks, handle incident and change management, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, optimize SQL queries, and ensure all databases operate at peak efficiency. This role requires a proactive, detail‑oriented DBA who is comfortable working in fast‑paced production environments and collaborating across teams.

You will work with Oracle 11g, 12c, and 19c, as well as MySQL and PostgreSQL, applying patches, upgrades, and best‑practice tuning strategies. You will also support high‑availability systems using ASM, RAC, and Data Guard, and maintain compliance with internal and industry security standards.

This is a high‑visibility technical role where your expertise will directly contribute to maintaining mission‑critical business systems.

There are two halves to this role: First, contributing to current projects where you analyze problems and tech issues, offer solutions, and test, modify, automate, and integrate systems. And second, long-range strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operational execution. This role isn’t specific to any one platform, so you’ll need a good feel for all of them. And because of this, you’ll experience variety and growth at Kyndryl that you won’t find anywhere else.
You’ll be involved early to offer solutions, help decide whether something can be done, and identify the technical and timeline risks up front. This means dealing with both client expectations and internal challenges – in other words, there are plenty of opportunities to make a difference, and a lot of people will witness your contributions. In fact, a frequent sign of success for our Infrastructure Specialists is when clients come back to us and ask for the same person by name. That’s the kind of impact you can have!

• 7+ years of hands‑on experience as an Oracle DBA in a production support environment.
• Strong experience managing Oracle 11g, 12c, and 19c databases across production and development systems.
• Proficiency in RMAN, Data Pump, and database cloning techniques.
• Expertise in SQL/PLSQL troubleshooting and performance tuning.
• Experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or similar monitoring tools.
• Hands‑on knowledge of ASM, Oracle RAC, and Data Guard for HA/DR.
• Strong understanding of Unix/Linux environments with shell scripting skills.
• Experience performing backup & recovery, database patching, upgrades, and change management.
• Ability to monitor and manage tablespaces, memory utilization, storage growth, and proactive capacity planning.
• Strong skills in incident troubleshooting, database performance tuning, AWR/ASH analysis.
• Experience administering user roles, privileges, and security compliance.
• Ability to support and troubleshoot DBMS_SCHEDULER and CRON jobs.
• Strong documentation, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

• Exposure to MySQL and PostgreSQL administration.
• Experience working in 24×7 production support environments.
• Knowledge of cloud‑based database platforms (Azure, AWS, OCI).
• Understanding of automation using Ansible, Shell, or Python.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes for incident, change, and problem management.
