This is a Band 30 role
This is an opportunity to be part of the Credit and Fraud Risk Controllership (C&FRC) team. The individual will directly contribute to the successful implementation of various system enhancements, analytics and automated reports.
Purpose of the role:
As part of a world-class Controllership group, the C&FRC organization is responsible for managing end to end credit and fraud process from reserve adequacy assessment through to the external and regulatory reporting. The will work closely with Controllership, Risk, Risk Finance, Technologies, and other groups responsible for day to day deliverables.
This role will support tech development of various features for credit reserving, disclosures and management report as a Business Specialist and will form a part of the Troubled Debt Restructuring Group within the C&FRC organization.
Responsibilities:
· Develop/Automate various features for credit reserving, disclosures and management report using PySpark, Pandas.
· Manage, transform and analyze complex data using Python, SQL, HIVE & EXCEL, GCP Big Query.
· Analyze data, draw inferences, and make recommendations & presentations to leadership.
· Understand the needs of the business and develop user story and clear acceptance criteria.
· Perform user acceptance testing, parallel run testing, and any other testing required to ensure the build meets the requirements authored including development and execution of test cases, and documentation of results
· Work closely and coordinate with various Product Owners, Process Owners, Subject Matter Experts, Solution Architecture colleagues, and Data Management team to ensure builds are appropriate for American Express products.
· Strong financial & analytical skills, problem-solving skills with experience in analyzing data, drawing inferences, and making recommendations.
· Structured problem-solving skills with proficiency in Python, SQL, HIVE & EXCEL, GCP Big Query, ability to identify and diagnose data issues when they arise
· Proven experience querying databases, SQL, and working with programming tools, Python
· Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and on aggressive timelines
· Create functional specification and process specific design documentation to support process and report owner requirements
· Team player but still able to work independently and on own initiative

Past Experience:
· 2-5 years of programming experience on PySpark, Pandas including strong techno-functional skills.
· Proven experience querying databases, SQL, and working with programming tools. Experience on Python, SQL, HIVE & EXCEL, GCP Big Query.
· Strong financial & analytical skills, problem-solving skills with experience in analyzing data, drawing inferences, and making recommendations.
· Experience with financial reporting requirements and processes is a plus
· Experience with credit reserves and portfolio analysis, financial modeling and accounting is a plus
· Strong verbal & written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with cross functional teams.
· Strong Interpersonal & Project Management Skills. Candidate should be good on Multitasking and Time management.
· Foundational data warehousing principles and data modeling experience is a plus
· Agile trained is a plus
· Degree in Software or Engineering with relevant programming and analytics experience
Academic Background:

· A good understanding of the banking products is a plus
· Awareness of relevant US GAAP/Local GAAP/IFRS is a plus
