Position Description:
Senior SQL Server DBA
- The scope of this job is SQL Server database administration, which is responsible for the installation, testing, configuration, trouble shooting and maintenance of SQL Server, 2012, 2014 and 2016 technologies. Additionally, resource will assist for HA and DR designing, planning, implementation processes. Establishes and documents standards and procedures for management review. The candidate should have been able to create, implement or recommend process refinement opportunities, making the database administration support model more efficient. The candidate must also be able to recognize automation opportunities as well that will reduce the amount of hands on support. The ability to follow instructions both written and verbal is paramount as well as the ability to multi-task. Strong verbal skills are a must. Flexible work schedule is a must.
Job responsibilities:
- Database operations Services
- Manage SQL Server databases.
- Installation, Configuration, and administration of SQL server 2008R2/2012/2014/2016/2019
- Manage Microsoft Clustered SQL Server Instances
- Manage database encryption through Azure Vault
- Good experience on T-SQL programming.
- Working on Standard Database Maintenance tasks, Backup and Recovery Plans.
- Database Refreshes from Production server to Stage server/ Development server as per Client requirements
- Performing SQL server daily health check and preparing a report based on it.
- Ensuring high availability of the databases to end users.
- Handling tasks and incidents
- Hands on experience with SQL Server and T-SQL in constructing triggers, tables, user-defined functions (UDFs), views, indexes, user profiles, database models, and data integrity.
- Creating and modifying DTS, SSIS packages.
- Monthly patching for production and non-production servers.
- Upgrading/Migrating SQL server to new versions
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes.
- Monitor system's health and performance.
- Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security.
- Analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time.
- Provide suggestions for solutions.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement.
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
- Expertise on Disaster Recovery, Backup and recovery support.
- Expertise on HA feature AlwaysOn, Clustering, Transaction replication
- Experience on Powershell scripting, WMI scripting knowledge will be an added advantage and using the skills to automate day to day task like Patching, Index rebuilds, Job scheduling etc
- To manage the performance of services to clients as agreed in the contract and ensure that the service levels are achieved.
- Make recommendations to improve performance or capacity of current environments.
- SSIS Developer duties
- Demonstrates an authoritative and professional manner in verbal, written and telephone communications.
- Expertise in ETL concepts.
- Proficiency in SSIS development and deployment.
- Experience with SQL Server and database management.
- Ability to write complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Knowledge of data warehousing principles and practices.

- Adheres to procedures, maintains records and demonstrates commitment to solving user problems.

You will be successful in this role if you have:
- A relevant B.E./AMIE/IETE (Electronics/Electronics communication, Computer science); previous experience in IT may also qualify.
- SQL Server Certified Professional with 7-8 years SQL Server DBA experience on installation, testing, commissioning, and trouble shooting on production and development servers.
- Scripting - T-SQL, write stored procedures, triggers, UDF, Powershell,
- Manage and configure SSIS, SSRS.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills to understand and anticipate the impact and opportunities across multiple projects.
- Experience with Windows/Linux operating systems. Candidate should be able to manage backup environments with heterogeneous operating systems.
- Good knowledge on ITIL processes.
