While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

The mission of the Platform Product Group engineers is to build a trusted, scalable and compliant platform to operate with speed, efficiency and quality. Our teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase. There are many teams that make up this group which include Product Foundations (i.e. Identity, Payment, Risk, Onboarding & KYC, Finhub), Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure.
The onboarding platform team is tasked with creating a platform for user onboarding and KYC requirements. This will enable Coinbase to launch new products or expand to new countries quickly, while maintaining the compliance and regulatory requirements. 

You will join the Onboarding Platform team within the larger platform org your core set of priorities in support of our mission first culture will include:

• Building onboarding platforms that can scale effectively across countries and products.
• Improving the conversion funnels (Onboarding and MTU) of users across the globe
  

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties): 

• Shape the next generation of Onboarding & KYC Platform architecture that powers Coinbase.
• Provide technical structure to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
• Articulate a long term technical direction and vision for the Onboarding platform..
• Turn your vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter by working with engineers, product managers and senior leadership.
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
• Contribute to the the multi-year strategy for platform engineering beyond Onboarding
• Add positive energy in every meeting, and make your coworkers feel included in every interaction.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements): 

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering
• You’ve 4+ years of experience with service oriented architecture
• Experience in uplevelling junior engineers via processes and setting a high bar for them to follow
• You know what high quality code — and software engineering processes — look like and know how to foster an environment that creates them by being hands on and writing high-quality code and systems.
• You’re passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together

 

Nice to haves:

• Domain expertise of working on onboarding/KYC domain
• Have previous experience at a fast paced, high growth stage internet/software company
• Embodies our values: Positive energy, continuous learning, clear communication, efficient execution, and commitment to building an inclusive environment
• You’ve worked with Golang, gRPC and MongoDB
• You’ve experience of building platforms
