PlusOne Data Protection Engineering is the team behind the data protection services in every SAP environment, including platform SAP Converged Cloud as well as all public cloud platforms. By augmenting an opinionated global, platform agnostic offering with bespoke services, we are meeting the demand of SAP’s cloud business. Our roadmap includes a central, consumable and expandable variety of data protection services contributing to all businesses SAP is.

We are looking for an enthusiastic DevOps Engineer to join the GCID PlusOne team. As part of this role, you will be responsible for designing and supporting data protection services, working with exciting projects within the PlusOne Converged Cloud user base as well as public cloud platforms. This position is a hands-on technical role spanning across design, build, and operations with a focus on issue resolution to remove customer technical obstacles and adoption challenges. You will leverage your problem-solving expertise to help customers to realize their objectives and improve the PlusOne Infrastructure.

What you’ll do

• You’ll be working closely with other internal teams, such as product management, designers, and end-users to ensure product success.
• You’ll be Driving the topic of database backup & restore architecture which includes design, test and implementing the solutions together with developers and helping to drive the rollout as well.
• You will work on a technical level and focus on developing and architecting the new products and concepts within the Backup & restore area.
• You’ll be responsible for customer interactions and escalations, alongside of executing technical engineering exercises.
• You help develop and maintain tools to aid the continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) process.
• You deliver technical excellence by designing and developing a solution or product.
• You provide hands-on contribution for creating high-quality Cloud services and you share your expertise and knowledge with your team members.
• You contribute to the development of new products and features, based on customers’ requirements and aiming for a wide range of use cases. 

What you bring

• You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• You have 7-10 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a similar role.
• You have the following soft skills
• collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
• problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.
• commitment to continuous improvement, both in terms of technology and processes.
• Fluency both written and spoken in English, 

Tech you bring

• Experience in enterprise backup solution and architecture
• Experience in Backup products/technology like Networker/DDVE, Cohesity.
• Experience in other databases like SAP IQ, MAXDB, DB2, MSSQL and HANA are highly beneficial.
• Experience in HA / DR solutions in database(s)
• Experience with different type of public clouds like, AWS, Azure and GCP
• Knowledge in public cloud storage types
• Knowledge in different type of backup mechanism like snapshot, etc
• Knowledge in encryption of database and backups is added advantage   
• Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge to adapt and learn quickly in a changing environment
• Sound scripting skills in languages such as Python, Go, or Bash for automation tasks.
• Hands-on in automating repetitive tasks and processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Hands-on in managing version control and configuration management using tools like Git, Puppet, or Chef.
• Experience in implementing centralized logging solutions using ELK Stack, Splunk, or Fluentd.
• Experience in designing and maintaining scalable, high-availability infrastructure on cloud platforms.
