Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled ETL Developer with strong expertise in data modelling, data warehousing concepts, and experience working with DBT cloud. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of 3rd normal form data modelling, script optimization on Redshift, and the ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex data issues. This role requires working with large data sets and ensuring efficient, scalable ETL processes to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.

What will you do in this role

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into data platforms.
• Develop and optimize data models, focusing on 3rd normal form and dimensional modelling techniques.
• Utilize DBT Cloud automation tools for rapid data products development and deployment.
• Develop and maintain DBT (Data Build Tool) models and transformations to support analytics workflows.
• Optimize ETL scripts and SQL queries for performance, with a focus on Amazon Redshift.
• Analyze large data sets to identify data quality issues, root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
• Monitor ETL workflows and troubleshoot failures or performance bottlenecks.
• Document ETL processes, data models, and technical specifications.
• Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and warehousing.

What should you have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in a Data Engineer role, preferably in the tech or healthcare industry.

Data Modelling

Strong experience with 3rd normal form (3NF) data modelling and dimensional modelling techniques.

Data Warehouse Concepts

Deep understanding of DWH architecture, star/snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, etc.

ETL Development

Proven experience designing and building ETL pipelines using industry-standard tools and frameworks.

DBT (Data Build Tool)

Experience developing and managing data transformations using DBT, including testing and documentation.

SQL & Script Optimization

Expertise in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries and ETL scripts, especially on Redshift.

Amazon Redshift

Strong knowledge of Redshift architecture, distribution styles, sort keys, and performance tuning.

Analytical Thinking

Ability to analyze complex data issues, perform root cause analysis, and propose effective solutions.

Large Data Sets

Experience working with large-scale data sets and ensuring data quality and integrity.

Performance Tuning

Skills in optimizing ETL workflows and database performance for scalability and efficiency.

Problem Solving

Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving data pipeline and system issues.

Data Platforms Knowledge

Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS) and data integration patterns.

Version Control & CI/CD

Experience with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines for ETL deployment and automation is a plus.

Communication

Ability to document processes clearly and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
