Position Overview:
As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining user documentation for our BIAN code generator. You will work closely with product managers, developers, and quality assurance teams to ensure that our documentation is clear, concise, and user-friendly. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our product and help our users effectively utilize our solutions.
Software Requirements:
- Proficient in documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Confluence, or similar.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) for documentation management.
- Understanding of markup languages (e.g., Markdown, HTML) is a plus.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Create, edit, and maintain user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, and online help for the BIAN code generator.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, understand product functionality, and document processes.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear and accessible content for diverse audiences, including developers and non-technical users.
- Ensure all documentation meets industry standards and is up to date with product releases and updates.
- Conduct user research and gather feedback to continually improve documentation quality.
- Create visual aids, such as diagrams and screenshots, to enhance the clarity of documentation.
- Participate in product demonstrations and training sessions to understand user needs and improve documentation.
- Adhere to project timelines and manage multiple documentation tasks simultaneously.
Category-wise Technical Skills:
- Technical Writing:Strong experience in creating user manuals, installation guides, and API documentation.
- BIAN Standards:Familiarity with BIAN standards and frameworks is highly desirable.
- Software Development Knowledge:Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
- Documentation Tools:Proficient in tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Confluence, or similar.
Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in the software development or financial services industry.
- Proven ability to create clear and concise documentation for complex technical subjects.
Day-to-Day Activities:
- Collaborate with product teams to gather and analyze information for documentation.
- Write and edit technical documentation, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Review and update existing documentation based on product changes and user feedback.
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to gain insights for documentation.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss documentation strategies and timelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in technical writing or documentation practices are a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn new technologies.
