IFEC UI/UX Development Manager

Job Description

The IFEC UI/UX Development Manager is responsible for leading the design, development, and customization or graphical user interfaces (GUIs) across inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) platforms, including seatback screens, portals, and mobile applications. This role ensures a seamless and brand-aligned passenger experience by managing system-specific design requirements, overseeing OEM collaboration, and executing UI/UX strategies from concept through deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• UI/UX Strategy: Define and drive the end-to-end design strategy for seatback IFE, PED applications, and connectivity portals, aligned with brand and passenger experience goals.
• GUI Development: Oversee GUI customization and functionality across multiple OEM systems. Ensure consistency, usability, and alignment with the brand standards.
• Cross-Platform Design: Create user flows and visual frameworks that provide intuitive navigation across all digital touchpoints.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to manage project timelines, deliverables, and design approvals.
• Innovation & Research: Stay informed on emerging UI/UX technologies, digital trends, and best practices to continuously improve GUI offerings.
• Testing & Validation: Develop testing scenarios and support the deployment of new GUI features and updates across the fleet.
• Reporting: Prepare presentations and documentation for senior management, supporting decision-making and showcasing design impact.

Skills

• Advanced knowledge of UI/UX design principles, user research, and visual storytelling
• Experience working with Linux- and Android-based IFE systems
• Proficiency in media integration, content workflows, and design customization
• Strong communication, stakeholder alignment, and project management skills
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior designers
• Familiarity with media encoding and content delivery methods

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX design, Interaction Design, Computer Science, or a related field
• Minimum 6 years of experience in product design and GUI development, preferably in aviation or digital platforms
• Deep knowledge of IFE systems and GUI integration with multiple OEM vendors
• Must hold a valid QID
