Senior Airport Charges Officer (Qatari Nationals)

About the role:

Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Flight Operations team as a Senior Airport Charges Officer to be based in Doha, Qatar.

As a Senior Airport Charges Officer, you will be responsible for safeguarding Qatar Airways from financial risks by proactively managing airport charges liabilities contributing to cost reduction and enhanced competitiveness. In this role, you will also be responsible to manage daily aspects of the airport charges invoice process, maintaining accurate records, and liaising with airports to resolve discrepancies identified during invoice verification to prevent over, under, or duplicated charges.

Specific responsibilities for the role include:

• Support Air Navigation Charges (ANC) Manager to review airport regulations and policies issued by Civil Aviation Authorities, Governments, and international bodies (e.g., ICAO, EuroControl) to identify changes, understand key provisions, and ensure compliance with all regulatory processes and procedures.
• Collect and maintain flight operations data (e.g., aircraft type, weight, etc.) necessary to verify the airport charges invoices. Verify airport charges invoices, to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies using available tools and best practices.
• Liaise with external stakeholders to clarify, dispute, and claim any incorrect charges to ensure only sums due are paid.
• Maintain a record of verified invoices, credit notes received, and cost savings achieved, to meet management, internal audit, and other stakeholder requirements.
• Report any discrepancies in airport charges rates, or other issues with flight planning data, to relevant stakeholders to ensure timely correction.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable and Supplier Relations to update bank details of any airport, as necessary to allow all payments to be made when due.
• Ensure timely reporting of monthly average airport charges rates, rates for pre-defined flights, and other key performance indicators that may be required to meet stakeholders needs.
• Provide Insurance team with any additional airport charges costs incurred due to diverted flights for timely claims and other handling.
• Maintain current Qatar Airways fleet data and provide updated information to external stakeholders as required.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

• Basic Understanding of Aviation: A general knowledge of the aviation industry from experience or education is essential.
• Preferred Knowledge of International Aviation Organizations: Familiarity with key aviation bodies and regulations such as ICAO, IATA, and Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA) is an advantage.
• Preferred Expertise in Managerial Accounting: A background in managerial accounting and data analysis will be highly regarded.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Analytical tools: Good skills in Excel, including data manipulation and analysis, are preferred.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of both spoken and written English is mandatory.
