Job Overview:
The Civil Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of civil construction work on-site, ensuring that all tasks are completed in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality control requirements. The supervisor will supervise a team of workers, manage contractors, and collaborate with project managers to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Supervision & Coordination:
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of civil construction works on-site.
- Supervise the construction team to ensure quality, productivity, and safety standards are met.
- Ensure the site is organized, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate the activities of subcontractors and workers to ensure the project timeline is maintained.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Monitor the quality of work being performed, ensuring it meets the project's specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and report on progress, identifying any potential issues or delays.
- Ensure all works are completed according to the approved drawings and specifications.
Safety Management:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and project-specific safety procedures.
- Conduct safety briefings and risk assessments, ensuring that the work environment is safe for all workers.
- Report accidents or near-miss incidents and implement corrective actions.
Material & Resource Management:
- Assist in managing materials and equipment, ensuring that all resources are available as needed to maintain the workflow.
- Monitor inventory levels of construction materials and ensure the proper usage to avoid wastage.
- Liaise with the procurement team for the timely delivery of materials to the site.
Progress Reporting:
- Report on the daily, weekly, and monthly progress of the construction activities to the Site Manager/Project Manager.
- Track the completion of construction tasks against the project schedule.
- Ensure accurate documentation of work progress and record any deviations from the planned schedule.
Team Leadership & Training:
- Lead and motivate the construction team to maintain high performance and productivity.
- Ensure that workers are trained and understand the scope of work, safety guidelines, and quality standards.
- Provide on-site training and mentoring for workers and assist with skill development.
Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution:
- Quickly identify and resolve any issues that may arise during construction.
- Work with the project team to address challenges such as delays, resource shortages, or quality concerns.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: Experience in civil construction projects, in a supervisory role.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Familiarity with construction safety regulations and best practices.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
