The purpose of the health and nutrition team is to ensure that children affected by crisis and displacement are protected from harm and provided with quality health and nutrition services, contributing to their well-being, safety, and long-term resilience. This team will work in close collaboration with local communities, government partners, and other humanitarian actors to deliver integrated health and nutrition programs that are both sustainable and contextually appropriate. By promoting child rights and fostering a protective environment, we aim to empower children to overcome adversities, access safe learning opportunities, and rebuild their futures, while upholding the highest standards of care and advocacy in all aspects of programming.
The purpose of the Health and Nutrition team is to ensure that children, along with mothers and newborns affected by crisis and displacement, receive essential, quality health and nutrition services, contributing to their immediate well-being and long-term resilience. With a focus on maternal, child, and newborn health and nutrition, the Health and Nutrition Program Manager will collaborate closely with local communities, government, partners, and other humanitarian organizations to deliver integrated, sustainable, and context-specific programs. Role purpose
The Health and Nutrition Program Manager will lead integrated health and nutrition programming, overseeing the CMAM, IYCF-E, maternal and newborn health care, CEmoC and BEmoC services. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality services aligned with the organization standards and works closely with the Deputy Field Manager to support the programmatic and operational aspects of these initiatives. The post holder will be expected to mentor and/or capacity building of health and nutrition team members and implementing partners. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the health program, ensuing compliance with the award regulations and monitoring of health projects
Principal Accountabilities Program Management and Planning
- Develop and oversee implementation plans, budgets, HR, and procurement for new and ongoing awards in coordination with specialist staff and the Deputy Field Manager.
- Conduct Health and Nutrition context and needs assessments to inform program design and ensure interventions are context-appropriate.
- Ensure program adherence to the organization policies, child safeguarding, confidentiality, and quality standards.
- Maintain administrative and programmatic documentation in compliance with donor requirements, coordinating with the Deputy Field Manager to address any programmatic adjustments.
- Support logistical needs and regular planning for efficient implementation.
Technical Supervision and Quality Assurance
- Provide guidance and supervision to health and nutrition staff and implementing partners.
- Conduct regular follow up and check-in to activities and provide structured feedback and support to staff and implementing partners.
- Ensure assessment processes, case management plans, and interventions are timely, aligning with best practices and child protection standards.
- Supervise the Interim Care and Detention Center programs, ensuring quality care, safety, and adherence to child safeguarding protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to child safeguarding and confidentiality, with regular reviews to address any risks in these high-sensitivity environments.
- To ensure integration (where appropriate) with other sectors, especially looking to strengthen the links between health programmes and nutrition, WASH, Protection and shelter.With experience in tergrating hygiene promotion messages into project design.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)
- Collaborate with IM and MEAL teams to implement data collection, attendance tracking, and quality assurance processes in line with the organization SOPs.
- Ensure feedback mechanisms are in place, actively integrating children’s input for program improvement.
- Lead on quality monitoring and follow up on recommendations, informing the Deputy Field Manager on any areas requiring additional resources.
- Oversee and contribute to high-quality, timely reports and donor submissions, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
Staff Management and Capacity Building
- Mentor and develop the skills of Health and nutrition partners through training, one-on-one meetings, and on-the-job mentoring.
- Conduct partner performance reviews, developing capacity building development plans in consultation with the Deputy Field Manager and technical advisors.
- When relevant coordinate with HR for staff recruitment, ensuring new hires receive comprehensive inductions and training aligned with program goals.
Representation and Coordination
- Act as the liaison with local stakeholders, INGOs, and NGO actors, facilitating collaboration and information sharing when needed in consultation with the technical advisors and field management.
- Represent the organization at coordination meetings, adhering to organizational standards and the Deputy Field Manager’s guidance on representation.
- Coordinate with other organization’s sectors to ensure cross-sectoral integration, such as education, nutrition, and MHPSS.
- Engage in field and technical advisors, presenting program achievements and addressing challenges in coordination with the Deputy Field Manager.
Other Responsibilities
- Regularly report to the Deputy Field Manager on implementation challenges, social context issues, and relevant program updates.
- Comply with all relevant organization policies, including child protection, safety, and equal opportunities.
Key Relationships Internal (excluding direct team and manager)
- Collaborating closely with the senior leadership team to ensure alignment with the overall organisational strategy and objectives.
- Regular interaction with partners implementing teams to coordinate and monitor the implementation of Health and Nutrition activities.
- Liaising with the finance and operations departments for budget management, resource allocation, and operational support.
- Coordination with the advocacy and communications team to drive strategic advocacy efforts and public engagement activities.
- Engagement with the monitoring and evaluation team to track the progress and impact of programmes and ensure evidence-based decision-making.
- Maintaining an open line of communication with human resources and partnership departments to support team and implementing partners development, training, and performance management.
External
- Engaging with implementing partners for MoUs and facilitate the implementation of Health and Nutrition activities.
- Collaborating with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society groups, , and community-based organizations, clusters and technical working groups to align efforts and share best practices.

- Proficiency in Arabic and English – writing and speaking.

Position holder will be based in Gaziantep, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
Education and Qualifications Education
- Qualified Health professional MD, (MPH preference) with at least five years of relevant experience preferably in primary health care, preventive and curative service delivery in the context of emergencies. or a related field; with a minimum of five years in the humanitarian sector, including at least two years in a similar role.
Desirable
- Relevant Certifications: Certification in Project Management, Writing Reports, or any thematic area related to health and Nutrition would be advantageous.

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
