The Opportunity
ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children is seeking job applicants for a MEAL Officer position to be based in Hatay with frequent travels to the SCI Türkiye Operational areas. The MEAL Officer will report to the MEAL Manager and will work closely with SCI staff in the implementation sites. S/he will provide cross-thematic support pertaining to MEAL activities to increase data quality and inform project adjustments where necessary; through ensuring evidence-based decision making. The MEAL Officer will be responsible to conduct frequent on-site and off-site monitoring, design the monitoring tools, ensure the efficient functioning of the Accountability mechanisms, ensure data confidentiality and security, facilitate and/or conduct various assessments, provide capacity building, supervision, and coaching to SCI and partner organization staff where relevant, and for data management and reporting. Full scope of the position’s responsibilities is elaborated below.
In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
Essential:
BSc/BA/BEng in a related field (Social Sciences, Computer/Data Sciences, Statistics, etc.).
At least 2 years of professional experience in humanitarian sector (education, protection, and livelihood sectors), with minimum 1 year in MEAL, MEL or M&E.
Or holds an MSs/MA in above mentioned degrees and 1 year or experience in MEAL, MEL or M&E.
Advanced MS Office skills
Proven experience in data collection, analysis, reporting and data visualization.
Proven advanced knowledge and practical skills in PowerBI, PowerQuery, and Excel.
Working knowledge of advanced research and evaluation methodologies (i.e. needs assessments, process, outcome, impact evaluations)
Fluent in Turkish and English
Experience in working with children and adolescents, and particularly refugees.
Desirable:
Fluent in Arabic
Previous experience in working with digital MEAL systems. Experience in using and developing CommCare applications is highly desirable.
Proven expertise in data analysis using tools like R, Python, or other similar software package.
Strong background in social research methodology. Proven experience in qualitative data collection through focus group discussions and key informant interviews via child friendly methodologies.
Hands-on experience with qualitative data analysis software (Atlas.ti, NVivo, MAXQDA, Dedoose etc).
Demonstrated ability in community mobilisation and community-level dialogue, or experience in representing his/her organisation.
Position holder will be based in Hatay, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
