Lead Mechanical and MGSE Engineer

The
Lead Mechanical and MGSE Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and integration of mechanical hardware and ground support equipment (MGSE) for assembly operations in the OrbitWorks facility. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, as well as experience in the aerospace industry. About This Role:

MGSE Design and Development:
+ Design and develop custom MGSE, including test fixtures, handling tools, and transportation containers.
+ Define and document MGSE requirements, specifications, and interfaces.
+ Oversee the fabrication and assembly of MGSE by external vendors or in-house technicians.
+ Create detailed engineering drawings and 3D models using CAD software.

Assembly Procedures:
+ Develop and document detailed assembly procedures for satellite hardware and MGSE.
+ Create work instructions and checklists to ensure consistent and accurate assembly processes.
+ Train technicians and engineers on assembly procedures and quality standards.
+
Quality Assurance:
+ Ensure compliance with quality standards and industry best practices.
+ Conduct inspections and reviews of engineering documents and hardware.
+ Analyze anomalies and provide disposition.
+ Embed lessons learned and improve continuously MGSE and procedures

Collaboration:
+ Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and project managers to achieve project goals.
+ Communicate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
+ Contribute to design reviews, technical meetings, and project status updates.
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
+ 8+ years of experience in the aerospace industry, preferably in satellite design and manufacturing.
+ Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including stress analysis and materials science.
+ A strong background in MGSE design and development is essential.
+ Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo).
+ Knowledge of assembly processes.
+ Experience with quality control and assurance processes.
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Practical experience in assembly and integration of satellite hardware is highly desirable.
+ The ability to adapt to changing requirements and work in a fast-paced environment is highly desirable.
