UTILITY & ROAD WORKS ENGINEER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The purpose of the job of a Utility and Road Works Engineer is to ensure the successful design, coordination, and execution of road infrastructure and utility systems within a construction or development project. The role bridges technical expertise and project management to meet safety, quality, regulatory, and client expectations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review and validate engineering designs and drawings for road and utility systems.
• Ensure designs are compliant with UAE regulations, codes, and project specifications.
• Assist in planning construction phases to align with project schedules.
• Oversee and monitor on-site activities related to road construction and utility installations (e.g., drainage, sewerage, water supply, electrical, and telecom systems).
• Conduct site inspections to ensure work is executed according to approved designs and standards.
• Provide technical guidance to construction teams to resolve issues during execution.
• Ensure all construction materials and methodologies meet quality standards.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
• Coordinate with local authorities for required permits and approvals.
• Liaise with project managers, consultants, contractors, and utility providers for seamless project execution.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and resolutions effectively to stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of site inspections, approvals, and daily activities.
• Prepare progress reports and as-built documentation for submission to clients or authorities.
• Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate delays or cost overruns.
• Resolve technical issues and adapt plans to address unforeseen challenges.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Advanced degrees such as a Masters in Civil or Transportation Engineering may be preferred for senior roles.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in utility and roadworks projects.
• Experience in road construction, utility installations, and urban infrastructure projects is highly valued.
• Must have UAE work experience.
• Can join immediately.
