About The Role:As the
Director of Finance at Dsquares, you will be responsible for leading the financial strategy and planning of the organization. Your primary focus will be on guiding the company's financial operations, driving financial performance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will play a critical role in advising the executive team on financial decisions and strategies, as well as managing the finance department.
Position Description:Responsible for directing the organization's accounting and Finance functions. Specific areas include the development and maintenance of planning and budgeting systems, management of financial resources to ensure healthy cash flow, analysis and interpretation of trends requiring management attention, the preparation of financial and management reports and procedures, and the interpretation of findings and specific recommendations to the management.
Budget Preparation - Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation and prepare the annual budget in consultation with CEO & COO; Assist Department Heads with the preparation of budgets for funding applications.
Financial Reporting and Analysis - Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash; Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll; includes delivery of timely and accurate financial statements and reports; Reconcile bank and investment accounts.
Tax/Audit/ Legislation Compliance - Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including Withholding Tax, Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax; includes preparation of all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the internal Audit Committee and the external auditors as necessary.
Risk & Asset Management - Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, cared for, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate; Oversee and supervise the administrative function of the organization including property/facility management, provision of furnishings and equipment necessary for effective operations; Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that program and organizational risks are minimized; Negotiate with Bank for lines of credit or other financial services as required and appropriate
Key Duties & Responsibilities: - Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy that aligns with the company's overall goals and objectives Analyze and evaluate financial performance, identifying opportunities for growth, optimization, and risk mitigation
- Oversee financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, tax, audit, and compliance
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including investors, lenders, and vendors, to manage financial risk and secure funding as needed
- Ensure financial policies and procedures are in place and adhered to, promoting transparency and accountability
- Lead and manage the finance team, including setting clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback, and creating a positive and collaborative work culture.
- Collaborate with other executives to develop and implement the company's overall business strategy and ensure financial sustainability
- Create and manage a financial plan and budget, allocating resources effectively to achieve maximum return on investment.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or relevant certification (CPA, CFA) is preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in accounting and financial management practices.
- Certified Public Accountant certification a plus.
- Experience in a senior management position.
- Proficiency with accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheets.
- Prior business partnering skills, working closely with general management and operation leadership to drive business expectations and results.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Solid understanding of accounting and financial concepts.
- Experience working with and advising senior management of financial and business strategies.
