Job Description
Health, Safety, and Environmental Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure that proper safety measures are in place to minimize hazards in the workplace.
- Ensure that all HSE activities are in compliance with the relevant local, national, and international regulations.
- Monitor the working conditions and the workplace environment to identify potential hazards and recommend improvements.
Safety Training and Awareness:
- Organize and conduct HSE training programs for employees to ensure safety awareness and preparedness for emergency situations.
- Develop and implement safety induction programs for new employees and contractors.
- Conduct regular safety drills and simulations (e.g., fire drills, evacuation procedures).
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and provide detailed reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain a record of all safety-related incidents and ensure that reports are filed according to regulatory requirements.
- Analyze trends in workplace injuries, accidents, and near-miss reports to identify areas for improvement.
HSE Audits and Inspections:
- Perform regular HSE audits and inspections across different areas of the company to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Identify areas of concern during inspections and recommend corrective actions to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Prepare reports on the findings of audits and inspections, and follow up to ensure implementation of corrective actions.
Emergency Response Planning:
- Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response plans for various incidents, including fires, chemical spills, and medical emergencies.
- Ensure that all employees are trained on emergency response procedures and know their roles in case of an emergency.
- Liaise with local emergency services (e.g., fire department, medical services) to ensure quick response and effective management of emergencies.
Environmental Protection:
- Monitor environmental practices and ensure the company complies with environmental laws and regulations.
- Promote the use of sustainable practices to reduce waste, energy consumption, and emissions.
- Oversee environmental impact assessments and ensure proper waste management practices are followed.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain HSE records, including safety data sheets, incident reports, inspection logs, and training certificates.
- Prepare and submit regular reports to the HSE Manager and senior management regarding safety performance, incidents, and improvements.
- Assist in the preparation of compliance reports for regulatory bodies.
Continuous Improvement:
- Review and improve HSE processes and procedures to enhance safety performance and reduce environmental impact.
- Stay updated on the latest industry standards, HSE regulations, and best practices.
- Recommend improvements in safety equipment and procedures to ensure the highest level of safety.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Environmental, Safety, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or a related field).
- In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
- Strong ability to conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively train staff and prepare reports.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to identify risks and develop corrective actions.
- Proficiency in using HSE software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Certifications (Preferred):
- NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) certification.
- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certifications.
- Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) certifications.
