Job description

The Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing the collection efforts of accounts receivable (AR) balances.

  • Supervise and develop Collections Analysts and Collectors, and manage their account loads.
  • Review collection system entries to ensure Collections Analysts and Collectors are entering detailed notes so that all internal departments have a clear understanding of AR status.
  • Support team DBO and days sales outstanding goals by providing assistance to the Collections Analysts and Collectors on problem accounts, difficult customer relationships and high-level disputes.
  • Review contracts as they relate to collection issues, including payment and invoicing terms.
  • Adjust parameters of the collection system's collections strategies, as required.
  • Attend customer meetings to resolve ongoing issues and foster relationships.
  • Conduct meetings with Sales, Operations and Finance groups to address inquires and issues related to AR collections.
  • Review and approve refund and expense write-off requests made by Collection Analysts and Collectors.
  • Understand the company Product Lines and geographical organizational structure and identify contacts for specific needs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including those within the Billing Center of Excellence, Credit, Sales, Operations, Tax and Treasury, to support and improve collection processes.
  • Ensure departmental costs stay within proposed annual budget.
  • Understand and comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements as defined in the risk control matrix.
