As a DBA you manage and administer the company's data management systems, ensuring consistency, quality and security according to the Michelin group’s prescriptions. You participate in the implementation of the databases and automated services provided to our partners and you provide high-performance databases that meet the company's business needs.
 



Technically speaking the focus is mainly on PostgreSQL and Oracle with a few Microsoft SQLServer databases, essentially on Linux environments.
 



Other technologies and tools regularly used by the team:



  • Ansible / AWX
  • Rubrik backup
  • Delphix
  • Gitlab
  • Grafana / OpenTelemetry
  • ITIL processes: incidents, service requests, changes…

 Requirements:



  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a database administrator on Oracle Database, PostgreSQL & Microsoft SQL Server. Oracle Database expertise is expected.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (bash, Python, …) and automation languages (Ansible).
  • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Organized and responsible.
  • Capable of working in a team.
  • Up-to-date with trends and developments in database administration.

Responsibilities:



  • Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered.
  • Protecting the database against threats or unauthorized access.
  • Monitoring system and database performance and identifying problems that arise (using Grafana & OpenTelemetry stacks)
  • Providing second-level technical support for all databases.
  • Responding in a timely manner to user-reported errors or requests.
  • Tuning database instances' settings for performance.
  • Installing and patching databases.
  • Developing automation for recurring activities and to provide new services to our internal partners through our service catalog.
  • Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance.
  • Suggesting changes and improvements for database maintenance or protection.
  • Preparing database instructions and procedures for execution by other analysts or administrators.
  • Defining and applying the norms and standards for the use and operation of a DBMS.
  • Regularly liaising with IT project managers, database programmers and devops.
  • Acting as a technical correspondent between the project/product teams and the technical support of the editors.
