This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Salary range: Rs 1500000 - Rs 3000000 (ie INR 15-30 LPA) Min Experience: 5 years Location: bangalore JobType: full-time As an Early Engineering Manager, you will be a hands-on people leader responsible for driving strong execution, high-quality delivery, and scalable technical solutions.
You will manage a squad of engineers, balance delivery speed with reliability, and own solution design within established architectural and cost guardrails.
This role combines technical leadership, people management, and operational ownership to ensure teams consistently ship impactful outcomes while maintaining efficiency, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
Key Responsibilities Own delivery cadence by managing backlog health, sprint planning, and predictable release cycles Define and enforce clear standards for readiness, completion, and technical quality Lead solution architecture by breaking down epics, reviewing design decisions, and de-risking complex work through technical spikes Ensure system reliability through SLO ownership, error budgets, automated testing, progressive rollouts, and incident management Drive a culture of learning through blameless postmortems and continuous improvement Manage and mentor engineers through regular 1:1s, performance feedback, growth planning, hiring, and onboarding Track and optimize unit economics and technology costs, ensuring efficient use of infrastructure and resources Partner closely with Product and Design teams to deliver incremental value across platform, data, and customer-facing domains Support delivery across areas such as core platforms, digital SaaS capabilities, geospatial intelligence, value-added services, and customer experience workflows What Makes You a Great Fit 6+ years of experience in software engineering with 1–3 years in a technical leadership or engineering management role Strong hands-on expertise in system design, APIs, data modeling, and event-driven architectures Proven ability to improve team velocity, delivery predictability, and engineering quality using metrics-driven decision-making Comfortable coding, reviewing critical paths, and guiding architectural decisions Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across product, design, and operations teams A people-first leader who enjoys coaching engineers and building high-performing, motivated teams Cost-aware mindset with experience balancing performance, reliability, and operational efficiency Bonus if you’ve worked with large-scale platforms, geospatial systems, payments, or cloud-native environments
