Your team

This role is part of Digital Servicing Technology tech function under Trading & Operations Tech. You will be part of cross functional tech team who will be driving deliverables for Trading Charges, Trading Serving, Onboarding activation & Payments Automation streams. You will be joining a strategic part of the company and be actively contributing to a key revenue stream.


Your role in the Team's Success

You will be a strong collaborator and possess the ability to work with other Engineering Managers and their teams with T&O Tech and wider functions.


What you'll do
  • Work with product and engineering partners to drive key decisions. 
  • Own features and solutions along with modernization plans for the tech stack you are responsible for.
  • Provide oversight of design and code quality. 
  • Ensure your team meets IG’s software quality standards and adopts engineering best practices.  
  • Recruit and onboard new team members efficiently. 
  • Line Management of your engineers and QA and coach them in their personal development goals. 
  • Drive adoption of our Agile development life cycle. 
  • Excellent track record for delivery. 
What you'll need for this role:
 Key Qualification Requirements:

As one of our Engineering Managers, you'll be leading a team of Java Engineers. Coaching and mentoring them on technical and ways-of-working subjects, whilst also taking a hands-on role with system development. 


  • 12-16 years of experience
  • A firm understanding of Agile and a desire to push improvements.
  • Experience and proficiency in design at system and component levels 
  • Considerable Java development experience in real-time multi-threaded systems 
  • Experience working in Kafka, FMQ/ AMQ 
  • Experience leading and inspiring technology teams with a passion for great team culture 
  • Ability and desire to learn business domain (Account Opening, Digital Servicing & Digital Platforms)
  • Practised user of Cloud migration, Kubernetes & other tech transformation efforts.
  • Ability to own and deal with production systems and related issues.
  • Excellent communication skills - adept with the right communication skills for the right audience.
