Boeing Test and Evaluation organization is seeking a highly-motivated Engineering Manager – Test Systems Platform responsible for the developing systems and software to automate the tests & measurements required for testing of avionics hardware, software and systems. This role combines technical expertise in instrumentation, data acquisition, embedded systems, test & measurement automation platforms and avionics LRU testing to develop next generation test platforms that bring standardization and scalability.
This role will be based out of Bangalore, India
Position Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership: Own end-to-end development of software and hardware platforms for automated test equipment (ATE), data acquisition and control systems and various HIL/ SIL test stations used in the lab and flight test environments.
Platform Architecture: Provide direction for the design of modular, scalable test software utilizing Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) patterns and Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) to decouple test logic from specific instrument hardware. Evaluate emergent hardware technologies and provide direction for selection of hardware.
Technical Strategy: Define the roadmap for test platforms, including the selection of tools (e.g., NI LabVIEW, TestStand), architectures, and processes in line with current and future requirements
People Management: Recruit, mentor, and performance developments for a multidisciplinary team of instrumentation software engineers.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with avionics designers, test engineers, simulation engineers and systems teams across different sites to ensure the requirements of all stakeholders are met
Project Management: Manage project schedules, budgets, risks, and milestones
Provide periodic updates to senior management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.
Must foster an innovative work environment leading to identification of opportunities for improvements in product, process, quality, and efficiency.
Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English, and have high degree of proficiency with MS Office tools to prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, proposals, and Statements of Work.
Must have experience leading teams and have the ability to mentor and teach juniors and partners to accomplish project and departmental goals and objectives.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
A Bachelor’s/ Master's degree (B.tech/M.tech) or higher is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION
12 to 15 years of related work experience in test and measurement software platform development, with at least 2 years in leadership/ management role
Advanced knowledge of specialized test software like NI LabView/ TestSTand/VeriStand, Keysight VEEPro combined with expert knowledge in using C/C++/Python for instrumentation
Working experience in various hardware platforms like PXI, VME/VXI, Dewesoft, UEI-DAQ
Demonstrated Experience in developing large scale test platforms with multi-site deployments
Familiarity with requirements of LRU testing, DO-178C compliance
Familiarity with avionics communication protocols such as ARINC 429, AFDX (A664), MIL-STD-1553, and CAN.
Experience in managing long-term projects with Agile software development practices
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with Continuous Integration (CI/CD) pipelines for automated test software.
Experience in deploying cloud based solutions
Familiarity with integration of test software in simulation environments
Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with global teams

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 12 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+11 years' related work experience).
