Job Description

The TGT English teacher will be responsible for teaching English to students at the secondary or senior secondary level, depending on the school. The teacher will focus on improving students' proficiency in both written and spoken English, helping them develop critical thinking, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar skills.


  1. Teaching & Instruction:


    • Teach English language and literature to students of secondary classes (6th to 10th grade or higher).
    • Develop and deliver lesson plans that meet curriculum requirements and engage students in active learning.
    • Organize and conduct classroom discussions, group activities, and assignments to promote communication skills and critical thinking.
    • Ensure students understand key literary concepts, including grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, literary devices, and essay writing.
    • Create a positive learning environment that encourages participation and helps students to express themselves confidently.
  2. Curriculum Development:


    • Adhere to the school’s curriculum and syllabus while planning lessons and assessing student progress.
    • Prepare and update teaching materials, worksheets, and other learning aids.
    • Integrate modern teaching methods, tools, and resources (including digital platforms) to enhance the learning experience.
  3. Assessment & Evaluation:


    • Conduct regular assessments (quizzes, tests, assignments, and projects) to evaluate students’ understanding of the material.
    • Maintain records of student progress and provide feedback to students and their parents or guardians.
    • Prepare students for internal exams, board exams, and other evaluations as required.
  4. Classroom Management:


    • Maintain discipline in the classroom and ensure a respectful learning environment.
    • Address students’ individual learning needs and provide remedial support where necessary.
    • Foster a love for literature and language through engaging and diverse teaching methods.
  5. Co-curricular Activities:


    • Encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities such as debates, elocution, storytelling, and writing competitions to develop their language and presentation skills.
    • Organize English language workshops, literary events, and book clubs to stimulate interest in reading and writing.

RequirementsRequired Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in English (BA English or equivalent) from a recognized university.
    • A B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree is mandatory for the position of TGT.
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience as a teacher at the secondary or senior secondary level is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Skills:
    • Strong command over the English language (both written and spoken).
    • Deep knowledge of English literature, grammar, vocabulary, and language structure.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and engage with students of various learning abilities.
    • Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools for teaching.
    • Classroom management skills and the ability to handle students with diverse needs.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
