Sanofi Business Services (SBS), one of the 4 pillars of Sanofi’s Business Transformation organization, is setting up a captive Business Services center in Hyderabad to provide Finance & Accounting (Account-to-Report, Customer-Invoicing-to-Cash) as well as Employee oriented (Employee Experience) services. With respect to Account to Report (A2R) the Business Services center will be covering the following areas of the process:


  • Assets Management


  • Intercompany Accounting


  • Treasury Accounting


  • GL Accounts Closing and Reporting


The Closing & Reporting Accountant reports to A2R Closing & Reporting Lead and works closely with Finance (Controlling, Treasury, Tax, Internal Control), other SBS departments, Customer Service and the A2R team.

Main responsibilities:


  • Operation: Deliver GL monthly closing & reporting services to SBS. Ensure all automatic postings have been booked, AR & AP sub-ledgers closed, and Balance Sheet and P&L accounts closed. Ensure that all recurring and non-recurring items are collected, accounts reconciled, and Manual Journal Entries (MJE) booked. Supervise preparation of management, tax, legal and statutory reporting at Group and country levels. Supervise prepare of ad-hoc reports and analysis. Contribute to business reviews. Ensure compliance of processes, transactions and reports with Sanofi accounting policies, internal control guidelines and audit / SOX requirements. Monitor operational KPIs to pro-actively manage execution issues.


  • Supervise and coach GL closing & reporting analysts, Provide expertise and coaching. Anticipate workload and allocate resources for effective and efficient delivery. Active participation in the selection of new employees. Evaluate employee performance, determine training needs, develop talent. Address performance issues and make recommendations for personnel actions. Shape and promote a culture of collaboration, trust, and teamwork, throughout the team through leadership and effective communication.


  • Focusing on employee retention and engagement, advises actions to management in this relation. Motivate and reward employees by recommending salary increases, bonuses and promotions. Makes, updates the job description of direct subordinates. Provide the necessary information for HR. Build document, and transfer A2R Core Model process knowledge (Level 6/7) relating to GL monthly closing & reporting services.


  • Continuous improvement: Identify process improvement opportunities through elimination of redundant activities. Participate in process automation initiatives and ensure seamless adoption and transition.


  • Trainings: Determine the training needs of direct subordinates, provide the professional trainings of them according to the procedures and work instructions. Make up to date his/her professional knowledge, participate on trainings, study professional publications, make personal contact, set up benchmark goals, participate in professional community.


About you


  • Experience: Graduate degree in accounting or finance (essential). Sound proven 12 - 15+ years of hands on experience in GL accounting preferably in an international multicultural environment (essential).Team supervision in a Business Services environment (advantageous).Fluent in English (essential).Knowledge of other European languages (advantageous)


  • Functional: Knowledge of IFRS and local GAAPs (essential). Strong understanding of the end-to-end Account to Report (A2R) processes (essential),Expertise and expert level knowledge (at transaction level) in GL accounting, closing & reporting processes and activities (essential). Experience in running accounting services within a Business Services organization (advantageous). Good business acumen (advantageous). Strong problem solving, deductive and analytical skills (advantageous)


  • Technical: Hands-on experience of SAP FICO (essential) and other accounting related IT tools (e.g. Trintech Cadency) (advantageous).Knowledge of Microsoft Office and expertise of MS Excel (essential)


  • Interpersonal: Ability to interact with internal and external clients in a professional manner (essential). Team player, able to work collaboratively transversally and with A2R front line teams with an end-to-end mindset (essential).Good communication skills (advantageous).Attentive to customer needs and feedback (advantageous)


  • Leadership: Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks and processes (essential). Ability to organize, prioritize and structure the tasks for oneself and direct reports (essential). Attentive to detail and works with precision (advantageous). Action oriented, delivery driven, change agent (advantageous). Lead by example to deliver high quality service, customer satisfaction (advantageous)


  • Working Hours: Be responsible for the period-end closing and reporting in accordance with Sanofi month end close schedule. The associate may need to work in different working hours during the month-end closing period for 5-7 days, depending on the region they support.


  • Languages: Fluent in English
