Key Responsibilities & Requirements:


  1. Project Leadership
    • Proven track record of leading and managing R&D projects and new product development initiatives from conception to completion in the field of steel making and forging.
  2. Innovation & Development
    • Experience in developing new products, materials, and processes for advanced applications.
  3. R&D Infrastructure
    • Ability to establish R&D setups for developments in steel making and ferrous/non-ferrous materials.
  4. Collaboration & Partnerships
    • Experience in collaborating with academia and industry, building partnerships to acquire technical expertise.
  5. Metallurgical Expertise
    • Sound knowledge of metallurgical principles for: 
      • Designing optimum alloy compositions
      • Heat treatment cycles
      • Hot working sequences
    • Ensuring mechanical properties meet customer specifications and international codes/standards for heavy forgings in critical applications.
  6. Steel Making & Forging
    • Relevant experience in metallurgical aspects of: 
      • Steel making
      • Hot forging sequences
      • Heat treatment for heavy forgings (e.g., ASME Sec IIA grade thick forgings, rotor forgings for power generation, and other engineering applications).
  7. Non-Ferrous & Exotic Materials
    • In-depth knowledge and experience in forging and heat treatment of non-ferrous and exotic materials.
    • Understanding of manufacturing routes and critical aspects of producing such forgings.
  8. Failure Analysis
    • Proven track record in failure analysis and root cause analysis for quality issues related to mechanical properties and internal soundness.
  9. Technical Documentation
    • Experience in reviewing technical specifications and developing: 
      • Material Data Sheets
      • Process Parameterization Sheets
      • Failure analysis reports
      • Documentation for manufacturing and knowledge management.
  10. Standards & Compliance
    • Sound knowledge of ASME, ASTM, DIN, EN, and other national/international standards and codes applicable to materials and testing.
  11. Simulation
    • Exposure to simulation of forging and casting processes (desirable).
