Job Description

Insurance Correspondent, The Insurer:


The Insurer  is seeking Bangalore-based correspondent to help drive global news flow and maintain our round-the-clock coverage of important events impacting global (re)insurance markets.


The ideal candidate will work with our regional editors to help bring our readers important industry news on the companies and people that drive the international (re)insurance industry.


In this role you would cover a range of news stories including senior personnel moves, large M&A transactions and earnings reports. This would present the opportunity to build new sources across the industry and help shape The Insurer’s news coverage.


The Insurer was acquired by Reuters in 2024 and provides market-leading coverage of the global specialty insurance and reinsurance sector, with coverage led by our hubs in London and New York.


About the Role:
As our Insurance Correspondent you will:


  • Identify and keep up with market-moving industry news stories
  • Provide rapid news updates to ensure our website is always up to date
  • Contribute to regular discussions on subjects covered by the global team.
  • Develop strong relations with key sources to help drive our content forward.
  • Develop your (re)insurance sector specialisation through research and remote networking.
  • Be innovative and flexible by suggesting improvements, challenging accepted norms and introducing new ways of storytelling.
  • Participate in training programmes for new hires and mentor team members.

About You:


To be our Insurance Correspondent, you will be:


  • A clear and effective communicator with both team members and senior executives at financial institutions.
  • Comfortable with rapid turnaround of news stories.
  • Good with numbers - part of the role will involve covering complex financial reports.
  • Keen to collaborate with colleagues on the team and elsewhere in Reuters on stories.
  • Keen to learn more about the (re)insurance sector and its role in the global economy
  • Flexible to work on a rotational working shift.
