We are currently looking for suitable, motivated, and team-oriented professional for the position of IT Change Manager.


The Role:


The IT Change Manager is part of a team who is responsible for facilitation and governance of IT Change management process. Request for changes should be made with minimum disruption to service through the change lifecycle. The Change Manager should be committed, pro-active, self-motivated and team player individual with highly organized approach, and experiencing of delivering results withing agreed targets.


The IT Change Manager reports into the Service Operations management team and to IT Change Management Manager and works with internal and vendors change managers and change implementation teams.


Key duties and responsibilities:


  • To be responsible for the Change Management process ensuring that governance is defined and adhered in the IT service teams.
  • Perform preliminary evaluation, classification and approval of the change requests.
  • Ensure that change is coordinated through its lifecycle and is implemented as per Apex policies, processes and procedures. This includes validating that all documentation and information associated with the various phases of change are complete and available.
  • Understand and appreciate the business and/or technical impact of the changes, ensuring proper Risk Assessment, Impact Assessments and Test Plans are performed.
  • Make sure user acceptance tests are completed and all defects addressed.
  • Make sure that changes are not unnecessarily delayed or postponed.
  • Perform post implementation review of unsuccessful changes.
  • Follow-up of failed changes to ensure lessons learnt and identifying the need for Major Incident reviews.
  • Promote Change Management process as an enabler, not inhibitor.
  • Produce and communicate the change schedule (forward schedule of change report) to impacted service groups.
  • Work closely with other teams, share knowledge and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Make management aware of critical issues i.e., incidents from change, unauthorized changes, emergency changes which could adversely impact our business.
  • Chair Change Advisory Board meetings and co-ordinate the outputs of the meetings.
  • Support and engage senior leaders if needed.
  • Create management reports within agreed timeframes. Measure Changes success metrics (KPI / SLA / OLA) against core processes.
  • Organize and lead regular Change management training sessions for various implementation teams, ensuring they are well informed and compliant with the Change management process.
  • From time to time, the Change Manager duties will require flexibility to work outside normal hours to support with major changes as required during non-normal operational events.

Experience and skills:


  • 3rd Level Degree in IT Discipline or similar;
  • The ability to work as part of a dynamic team in  rapidly  evolving IT environments;
  • Good presentation skills and Communication skills;
  • Good documentation skills;
  • ITIL Certified v3 or v4 with experience in an ITIL environment, experience with Incident/Problem/Change management processes, experience in outsourced IT preferable, technical background in infrastructure desirable.
