Role Purpose
The Manager – External Communications will lead Eaton India’s external communications strategy, strengthening the company’s visibility, reputation, and thought leadership across media, industry platforms, awards, digital, and owned channels. This role will shape a consistent, credible, and differentiated external narrative aligned with Eaton’s global strategy and India growth priorities, while reinforcing a One Eaton approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive external communications strategy for Eaton India aligned with global messaging, brand standards, and business priorities.
- Proactively identify and drive opportunities to enhance Eaton’s visibility across media, industry bodies, external platforms, events, and third-party forums.
- Partner closely with business leaders to translate business priorities, innovation stories, and growth initiatives into compelling external narratives and proof points.
- Lead media relations across business, industry, and trade media, including proactive story pitching, interviews, bylines, opinion pieces, and expert commentary.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, editors, and influencers to strengthen Eaton’s credibility and share of voice.
- Design and execute leadership positioning and thought leadership programs, enabling leaders to be visible, credible voices on topics such as electrification, sustainability, digitalization, and innovation.
- Support leadership visibility through LinkedIn, media preparation, messaging frameworks, talking points, and storytelling aligned to Eaton’s global and India-specific priorities.
- Manage Eaton’s engagement with industry associations, councils, and forums, identifying and curating speaking opportunities, panels, roundtables, and conferences for leadership participation.
- Own the awards and recognition strategy for Eaton in India, including identification of relevant awards, end-to-end submission management, storytelling, stakeholder coordination, and tracking of outcomes.
- Lead development of high-quality external communications content including press releases, media kits, leadership talking points, messaging documents, fact sheets, and other supporting assets.
- Drive external digital storytelling through LinkedIn, Instagram and other relevant platforms, ensuring alignment with Eaton’s brand guidelines and external positioning.
- Own and manage content for Eaton India’s company website pages, ensuring timely updates, strong storytelling, SEO optimization, and alignment with brand, business priorities, and digital performance metrics.
- Manage PR agencies and external vendors, setting clear goals, KPIs, and performance metrics, and ensuring high-quality execution, message consistency, and strong return on investment.
- Plan and manage the external communications budget, including forecasting, tracking, and cost-effective utilization in line with Eaton policies and governance standards.
- Ensure governance, approvals, compliance, and adherence to Eaton’s global communications standards across all external communications.
- Collaborate closely with global communications teams to align India’s external messaging, content, and narratives with Eaton’s global priorities.
- Partner with internal communications, marketing, HR, facilities, and business stakeholders on large-scale events, leadership milestones, and major announcements to ensure aligned internal and external messaging.
Qualifications:
- 8–14 years of experience in corporate communications, PR, or external communications.
- Prior experience managing PR agencies and external vendors.
- Experience in B2B, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, or technology sectors preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field (Master’s preferred).
