Job Title



Manager, Engineering

Position Summary:




As an Engineering Manager, you will lead cross-functional Agile engineering team to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions that power the travel ecosystem. You will drive technical excellence, operational stability, product delivery, and people development while contributing to Amadeus’ long-term technology strategy. This role requires strong technical depth, end-to-end delivery ownership, leadership maturity, and the ability to collaborate across global teams.




Key Responsibilities:




1. Delivery Leadership



· Own end-to-end delivery for your team(s) including scope, planning, prioritization, and quality.



· Ensure zero slippage on committed features, SLAs, and release milestones.



· Establish predictable delivery practices using SAFe, Win Approach, Jira, WSR, KPIs, and engineering metrics.



· Uphold Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) practices and enforce engineering standards.



· Identify risks early and drive mitigation strategies.



2. Technical & Engineering Excellence



· Provide technical direction and guidance across architecture, design, code quality, and performance.



· Champion continuous improvement of engineering practices, tooling, automation, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and FinOps.



· Drive innovation initiatives—GenAI adoption, automation opportunities, and emerging-tech exploration.



· Evaluate design trade-offs, drive root cause analysis (RCA), and ensure learning loops.



3. People Leadership & Talent Development



· Manage, coach, and grow engineers and technical specialists.



· Conduct performance reviews, career discussions, and ongoing feedback cycles.



· Build a trusting, inclusive, and collaborative environment.



· Identify high-potential talent (HiPos/HiPros) and support their growth, mentoring programs, and succession planning.



· Reinforce Amadeus culture, values, and ways of working.



4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management



· Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Program Managers.



· Represent engineering in cross-BU initiatives, SAFe ceremonies, and leadership syncs.



· Communicate effectively on progress, risks, dependencies, and decision-points.



· Engage with customer-facing teams to address escalations, operational issues, and roadmap alignment.



5. Operational Excellence



· Ensure operational stability with clear KPIs (e.g., PTR, defects, uptime, latency, SLA adherence).



· Drive incident management best practices, on-call readiness, and regression handling.



· Promote documentation excellence and knowledge-management discipline.




Required Skills & Experience:




Technical Skills



· Strong engineering background (software development ( Java Full stack), cloud, .



· Hands-on understanding of distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, and observability.



· Familiarity with Amadeus ecosystem, enterprise architecture, toolchains, and engineering practices (a strong plus).



Leadership & Behavioral Skills



· Effective people leadership and team-building capabilities.



· Excellent communication and stakeholder management.



· Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and execution focus.



· Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity.



· Ability to influence without authority across teams and geographies.

Education & Experience



· 10–14 years of overall experience, with prior engineering or team-lead experience.



· Experience managing cross-functional technical teams in a global setup.



· Exposure to SAFe or large-scale Agile environments preferred.
