Job Title:  Manager – Public Policy and Outreach

About the Role


As a Public Policy Manager, besides the main KRA of building a long-term engagement with State and Central Government in India, is to promote Springer Nature’s thought leadership. He/she will be playing a key role in making Springer Nature's interests are reflected in legislative processes, that regulations are followed, and that proactive advocacy maximizes strategic benefits. This position demands a blend of policy understanding, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to effectively manage the intricate interactions between government policies and the academic publishing business.


Responsibilities:
1) Build strong relationship with State and central ministries to drive Springer Nature’s business in India.
2) Liaise with the State and Central Government, Institutions around education consortia to drive more Institutional and corporate business.
3) Build, connect, grow research communities in India.
4) Actively represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and policy discussions.
5) Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory requirements and changes.
6) Analyze and prepare the potential impact of proposed legislation and regulatory changes on the company’s operations.
7) Prepare reports to communicate policy related findings and recommendations.
8) Prepare and implement response plans for policy-related crises or regulatory challenges.
9) Coordinate with internal teams (legal, editorial, sales, and marketing) to align public policy initiatives with business objectives.
10) Actively build competitive landscape and actively build competitive strategy for the organizations.
11) Actively drive new partnership initiatives engaging with various national and international bodies like UNICEF, UNESCO, WHO, UNDP, Impact investing organizations/foundations


Experience, skills and qualifications:
1) A bachelor's or master’s degree in public policy, political science, law, or a related field.
2) Proven experience in public policy, government relations, or regulatory affairs, preferably within the publishing or education sector
3) Excellent analytical and research skills to interpret complex policy documents and data.
4) High ethical standards and integrity.
5) Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

1) Exceptional Networking & Outreach Skills
2) Excellent Presentation and communication skills.
3) Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4) Connects with Govt / Ministry officials / Department of Governments.
5) Familiarity with the academic publishing industry.
