Role Summary
Plans, directs and coordinates manufacturing processes involving castings, machining, assembly and testing of pumps. Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials & parts, castings, fabrication processes, tooling and production. Creates and analyzes routing in production processes to determine accurate costing. Analyzes and improves quality, cost, and delivery by using lean and six sigma tools. Provides engineering support in production departments by trouble shooting and resolving technical issues.
Responsibilities
Designing production processes by creating manufacturing plans and manufacturing routings that maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
Developing and implementing process improvements and technological upgrades to the existing operations/processes to reduce the waste in the process.
Designing control systems for monitoring the manufacturing process performance to minimize costs and production issues.
Support estimation team in constructing standard cost for operations.
Developing design and production standards in collaboration with all stakeholders.
Training staff for new processes and providing instructions and manuals.
Developing plans and year over year productivity improvements, facilitate problem solving activities.
Preparing material and equipment lists, purchase requisitions, cost analysis, and estimated production costs related to the improvement projects.
Conduct time, motion, and process studies using activity analysis, snapshot analysis, work allocation diagrams, and other lean tools and methods.
Assist in establishing operational methods, routings and work standards using various measurement techniques
Analyze throughput and labor productivity data to determine plant bottle necks and work with the site to eliminate them
Monitor and demonstrate adherence to recommended safety procedures and good housekeeping
Requirements
Engineering graduate with 8-10 years of relevant experience
Lean Certification preferred (Green belt or black belt)
Experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in pumps/rotary equipment
Demonstrates ability and willingness to collaborate as team player
Ability to read, interpret engineering drawings, operating manuals, maintenance instructions and procedures
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced geometry, trigonometry, modern algebra and advanced statistical theory
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, analyze, derive and apply desired solutions
knowledge of pumps manufacturing, testing /rotary equipment and its applications
Machine tool requirements and knowledge
Excellent communication, influencing skills
Experience in ERP systems, SAP S4/Hana, MI preferred
Engineering documentation preferred
Exposure to time/methods study techniques preferred
