Overview:


In this individual contributor role, the Principal Engineer (Mechanical Design) will actively participate in mechanical product design of various Actuation Systems product lines including Power Door Opening System (PDOS), Thrust Reverser Actuation Systems (TRAS) and Highlift Actuation systems and will actively participate in NPI (New Product Introduction), redesign and technology programs of Collins Aerospace Actuation Systems business unit.


Position: Principal Engineer (P4) - Mechanical Design


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Understand system requirements, design intent, and comply with applicable design practices, aerospace standards, customer requirements and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop product level concept designs and architecture based on product requirements, meticulously evaluating existing designs for reuse.
  • Lead the design activities for NPI, technology programs, value engineering and resolve design issues.
  • Implement engineering solutions, taking account of critical constraints, including due concern for cost, stress, reliability, and safety.
  • Support program and technical reviews to ensure compliance with requirements and mitigate potential issues.
  • Facilitate and drive the resolution production issues and field failure investigations.
  • Support Bid & Proposal for new products.
  • Provide suggestions to improve processes, tools, methods, and products and document the best practice.
  • Own and maintain technical processes and standard work.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, develop a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in aerospace hydraulic and electromechanical product design, applying knowledge to enhance projects and processes.
  • Actively participate in a team environment and collaborate with customers, suppliers, and cross functional teams

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
  • Sound knowledge in mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • 12 to 16 years of industry experience in mechanical product design for new product development / Technology development.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in hydraulic and electro-mechanical product design.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and heat treatment processes
  • Knowledge of aerospace product compliance, qualification, and certification.
