Role Description: We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who can design, build, and scale robust backend systems powering data-driven applications.
You will play a key role in architecting and developing services using Golang and Python (both must-have), while also leveraging your broader backend expertise across cloud infrastructure, databases, and geospatial data systems.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering problems, working with distributed systems, and collaborating closely with data and product teams to deliver impactful solutions.
Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs with a strong focus on reliability and performance.
Contribute hands-on in Golang and Python, while also bringing experience in other backend technologies as needed.
Architect and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including PostGIS for geospatial data handling.
Design and deploy backend services on AWS, ensuring scalability, fault tolerance, and security.
Collaborate with data science teams to integrate analytical models and data workflows into production.
Own the entire lifecycle of backend features — from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
Mentor junior engineers and participate actively in architectural discussions and code reviews.
Implement best practices for CI/CD, observability, and system design.

10+ years of experience in backend software development.
Strong hands-on expertise in Golang and Python (both are must-have).
Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and relational data modeling.
Proven experience with AWS services (ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, etc.
). Experience building RESTful and/or gRPC APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Understanding of data science workflows, model serving, or working with analytical data pipelines.
Frontend knowledge: JavaScript and web development (to collaborate closely with frontend engineer on API contracts, data structures, and integration) Pagination: experience designing and implementing pagination for large datasets API optimization: experience refactoring bulky APIs into smaller, efficient endpoints (unbundling, data aggregation strategies) Strong fundamentals in algorithms, system design, and software architecture.
Nice to Have Experience with geospatial data processing, ETL pipelines, or data orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster).
Exposure to message queues or event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS, Pub/Sub).
Knowledge of data engineering or ML model deployment concepts.
