This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Min Experience: 5 years JobType: full-time We are building a powerful platform that enables supply chain teams to leverage intelligence and automation at scale.
A core component of this vision is a Notes Execution Platform that allows users to securely author, execute, and share internal and external code within a unified environment.
As a Senior Backend Engineer , you will lead the design and development of this platform—creating a secure, scalable, and developer-friendly execution engine that integrates deeply with data and machine learning workflows.
This is a high-impact, foundational role at the intersection of platform engineering, data infrastructure, and developer productivity .
Key Responsibilities Design, build, and scale a secure execution platform that enables seamless execution of internal and user-supplied code in isolated, observable environments.
Architect and implement sandboxed execution environments with strong security controls, isolation, and resource quotas.
Develop backend services and APIs to manage execution lifecycles, including job scheduling, monitoring, cancellation, logging, and reporting .
Ensure high availability, resilience, and horizontal scalability to support growing workloads.
Integrate the execution platform with data pipelines and machine learning workflows, making it a core part of the broader ecosystem.
Collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to understand use cases and deliver intuitive, developer-first experiences.
Drive technical excellence by defining best practices for execution safety, performance optimization, and system observability .
Required Qualifications 5+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably working on distributed systems or platform infrastructure .
Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python, Go, or Java .
Hands-on experience designing and building RESTful and/or gRPC APIs .
Solid experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong understanding of secure code execution , sandboxing techniques, and resource isolation.
Experience with distributed job queues or orchestration systems (e.
g., Celery, Airflow, Kubernetes Jobs, or similar).
Proven ability to build scalable, resilient, and observable systems .
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have Experience building or working with notebook-style execution platforms (e.
g., JupyterHub, Databricks, or similar).
Exposure to data engineering or machine learning platforms and their execution requirements.
Experience designing and securing multi-tenant systems and shared infrastructure.
