Senior DevOps Engineer

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be successful as a Senior DevOps Engineer, you should have experience with:

• AWS Certifications preferred.

  
  
  

• Strong hands-on experience in creating pipelines for Automation & Configuration Management such as AWS CloudFormation, Chef, Ansible, Python & Bash for CloudOps.

  
  
  

• Should have hands-on experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment tools like Gradle, Docker and CI/CD pipelines using GITLAB.

  
  
  

• A solid understanding of Service First, release management, patching, and vulnerability management is essential. Proficiency in tools such as GitLab, AppDynamics, ESaaS, Helm, and Chef is required, along with strong knowledge of Terraform, MS Azure, and AWS.

  
  
  

• Hand on experience in AWS RDS, EC2, ECS container service, NFS, Block Storage, KMS, Secret Manager, Load balancer, IAM policies, Route 53, NAT GW, Transit GW, and Advance Shield.

  
  
  

• Experience with AWS API services and Kafka technologies.

  
  
  

• Knowledge of distributed infrastructure, Unix/Windows expertise, SQL skills, and familiarity with databases like Oracle and SQL..

  
  
  

• Basic knowledge of Java, experience with integrating multiple toolsets, and strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities are also beneficial.

  
  
  

• Experience with Kafka/ActiveMQ or other message brokers for event-driven communication.

  
  
  

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Excellent coding skills in Python/Java/Spring Boot.

  
  
  

• Hands-on in cloud environments like AWS, Azure, OpenShift, Docker.

  
  
  

• Devops knowledge with experience in tools like Docker,GitLab pipelines.

  
  
  

• Foundational understanding of Java Performance concepts like JVM Internals, Garbage Collection Mechanisms, Thread Management, Connection Pool etc. are highly desirable.

  
  
  

• Analysing application Performance trends from ELK and AppDynamics.

  
  
  

• For development infrastructure support, provide hands-on support, problem investigation and resolution.

  
  
  

• Proven track record of successful delivery on infrastructure projects.

  
  
  

• Good to have experience in automating maintenance/management for Docker like environment.

  
  
  

• Optimize the cost using innovative solutions.
