Amazon’s Retail Business Services (RBS) Learning & Development (L&D) is looking for well qualified and dynamic Learning professionals! The Senior Manager, L&D will be responsible for executing the strategy for L&D initiatives that support the business objectives of RBS. The Senior Manager, L&D will lead the development of training best practices and standards, across all Business Units of RBS. The role is responsible for using the L&D organization as a lever to solve complex instructional/learning challenges, develop and implement standard work practices and improve quality, and performance results with a focus on core learning programs (new hire onboarding, leader development onboarding, learning technology training), and Training Return on Investment (ROI). The Senior Manager, L&D is responsible for executing train-the-trainer sessions in the Business Units to certify others as needed.
Key job responsibilities
• Actively seek, clarify and understand information from Business Units senior leaders that leads to an understanding of RBS performance, goals, required YOY improvements, trend analysis, and provide training assistance where necessary in order to achieve these goals
• Fully understand workflow, goals and reports used to drive the business
• React quickly and efficiently to production imperatives, scheduling conflicts and RBS wide rollouts
• Manage escalations and force multiplies by driving best practices standardization at scale and influence Learning adoption across all Business Units
• Aggregate and analyze Learning metrics to identify opportunities to support the Business Units with Learning products
• Partner with key business stakeholders to understand gaps in Learning programs and offer thoughtful, data-driven solutions to business problems
• Partner with Program Managers on development and lead super regional implementation of training programs for managers, trainers, and others (i.e., participating in and conducting needs analysis, skills development classes, cross-training, manager technical training, etc.)
• Foster the development and growth of Amazon employees (i.e., mentoring, teaching, etc.)
• Ensure that the Learning Department creates/updates accurate and useful information for training programs and other training documentation/aids
• Develop strategies and processes in partnership with other team leaders in RBS to ensure effective delivery of training programs for Leaders
• Create and manage the communication strategy for promoting and highlighting key training processes and initiatives across RBS
• Drive alignment to standardize learning solutions as well as gain feedback from the Business Units on opportunities for continuous improvement
• Actively develop the L&D community by making customers and stakeholders aware of available instructional solutions
A day in the life
The L&D team is responsible for the successful orientation, training and coaching of all employees on cross-department training needs/modalities. Through the L&D team and other resources, this position will facilitate training initiatives and communicate policies to existing and new employees to ensure RBS performance goals are met and/or exceeded. This role entails providing strong leadership and direction to learning resources, trainers, across multiple regions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 10+ years of leadership development and training, to include organizational development, public speaking, and group facilitation experience
- Experience with project management
- - Knowledge of human resource theory, including employee relations, learning, and performance management
- - Knowledge of GenAI and continuous learn as GenAi evolves
- - Experience dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment
- - Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to drive improvements
- - Experience in instructional design, including needs analysis and multi-media instruction
- - Experience formulating and implementing training strategies, policies, and procedures for standardization and delivery of training methodology throughout the organization
- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
