Job Description

Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Urban Designer to lead innovative urban design projects and guide teams in delivering high-quality design solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in urban planning and design, an in-depth understanding of the built environment, and the ability to transform complex urban challenges into creative and functional spaces. The Senior Urban Designer will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including city officials, developers, architects, and community groups, to create vibrant, sustainable, and people-centered urban environments.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Urban Design Leadership: Lead and manage urban design projects from concept to completion, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, sustainable, and innovative designs.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that they meet deadlines, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with architects, landscape architects, planners, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate design and planning objectives.
  • Design Vision: Develop and present visionary urban design concepts, strategies, and proposals for public and private sector clients.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with local communities, government officials, and other key stakeholders to gather input and ensure that designs meet the needs of all users.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance on urban design principles, policies, and regulations. Ensure compliance with local zoning codes, building standards, and sustainability practices.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior designers and urban planners, providing guidance and feedback on their work, as well as fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Design Documentation: Prepare and present detailed design reports, conceptual designs, sketches, renderings, and other documentation required for approvals and presentations.
  • Sustainability and Resilience: Incorporate principles of sustainability, resilience, and environmental stewardship into all design solutions.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, best practices, and technological advancements in urban design, contributing to continuous improvement within the team.

Experience:


  • A minimum of 12-15 years of professional experience in urban design, with a proven track record of leading and delivering complex urban projects.
  • Experience in both public and private sector projects, including large-scale urban regeneration, mixed-use developments, public spaces, and transportation projects.

Skills and Competencies:


  • Strong proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS, and 3D modeling software).
  • In-depth understanding of urban planning and design principles, land use, transportation, and environmental sustainability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Planning, or a related field.

  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of local planning policies, zoning regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, addressing both aesthetic and functional aspects of urban design.
