Senior ServiceNow CMDB/CSDM Developer Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer with strong expertise in CMDB, CSDM, and platform development, along with working knowledge on CMDB concepts and architecture. This role focuses on engineering a reliable, CSDM‑aligned CMDB, developing platform capabilities, ensuring data quality, and supporting governance standards. The developer will collaborate with ITSM and other teams and act as a technical SME for configuration data integrity.


Key Responsibilities 


CMDB & CSDM Engineering (Will be align to CMDB full time) 


  • Implement and maintain CSDM-aligned CMDB class models, relationships, domains, and lifecycle states. 
  • Develop and optimize Identification & Reconciliation (I&R) rules, attribute precedence logic, and CI normalization strategies. 
  • Configure and maintain CMDB Data Manager, CI lifecycle/retirement flows, and health inclusion rules
  • Build platform logic to support CMDB Completeness, Correctness, Compliance, staleness checks, and automated data quality remediation flows. 
  • Support CI ownership models, governance standards, naming conventions, and metadata stewardship. 
  • ITOM Discovery / ITOM Knowledge to support in migration for risk and impact.
  • Support audit and compliance requirements for CMDB health, evidence packs, remediation tracking, and data lineage documentation.
  • Must follow best practice and drive towards out of the box model on platform.
  • Participate in governance forums and provide technical input for policy and architecture decisions.
  • Maintain dashboards and reports for CSDM, CI health, ownership, and completeness/correctness trends.
  • Have worked in Agile/scrum environment.
  • Support audit and compliance requirements for CMDB health, evidence packs, remediation tracking, and data lineage documentation

ServiceNow Platform Development 


  • Develop server-side scripts (Script Includes, Business Rules, Fix Scripts), client-side scripts, UI policies, and UI actions. 
  • Build and maintain Flow Designer, Integration Hub spokes, Transform Maps, and scripted transformations. 
  • Develop integrations for CI data ingestion and normalization, ensuring strong reconciliation logic and data integrity. 
  • Optimize platform performance (queries, indexes, efficient GlideRecord patterns) and implement managed error-handling. 
  • Cloud integration hands-on experience 
  • Author technical documentation (data contracts, mapping specs, runbooks, ADR) 
  • Peer reviews the code of Junior engineer, participate in SCRUM agile ceremonies and  
  • Work alongside Platform team to be aligned with Release and deployment
Cross-Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with ITSM, Application Owners, Network, DBA, Platform Engineering, and ITOM Discovery SMEs.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior admins and analysts.
Must‑Have Qualifications
  • 6–10+ years of ServiceNow development experience.
  • 2-4+ years focused on CMDB/CSDM modeling, CI class engineering, and data management.
  • Strong proficiency in Script Includes, Business Rules, Fix Scripts, Transform Maps, and Flow Designer.
  • Solid understanding of CSDM across business, application, and technical service layers.
  • Hands‑on experience with Identification & Reconciliation: identifiers, precedence logic, dedupe/orphan prevention.
  • Strong platform engineering fundamentals: scoped apps, API usage, async processing, error logging.
  • Exposure to Service Graph Connectors or CMDB integration pipelines.
  • Knowledge of ITOM Discovery concepts (not deep engineering), including:
    • Patterns & probes
    • MID Server architecture basics
    • Credential logic
    • Dependency interpretation
  • Practical experience with CMDB Health and automated remediation workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills, documentation discipline, and cross-domain communication capability.
  • ServiceNow certifications: CSA, CAD,
  • Nice to have ServiceNow certifications: CSA, CIS‑CMDB, CIS‑ITOM, CIS‑Discovery (nice to have), CSDM micro‑certifications.
  • Working Exposure to Service Graph Connectors or CMDB integration pipelines.
  • Knowledge of ITIL v4 and configuration management governance practices.
  • Practical experience with CMDB Health and automated remediation workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills, documentation discipline, and cross-domain communication capability.
