Sitecore & GenAI Developer

Johnson Controls is seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented, and GenAI‑ready Sitecore Developer to join our Global Marketing IT team. In this role, you will contribute to the development and implementation of modern Sitecore solutions while adopting a GenAI‑powered software development mindset. You will leverage AI‑assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and GenAI‑driven automation throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You will collaborate with senior developers and cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, intelligent, and high‑quality digital experiences on the Sitecore platform.

Core Sitecore Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and implementation of Sitecore solutions under the guidance of senior developers.
• Support troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving performance issues in the Sitecore environment.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to implement Sitecore features meeting business requirements.
• Follow coding standards and best practices to ensure high‑quality, maintainable code.
• Assist with integrating Sitecore with third‑party systems and services.
• Contribute to maintaining technical documentation and configuration details.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with other developers, designers, and QA engineers to support the development lifecycle.

GenAI & AI‑Assisted Development Responsibilities:

• Apply a GenAI‑first mindset to solution design, coding, documentation, and troubleshooting.
• Use GitHub Copilot and other AI tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and automate repetitive tasks.
• Leverage AI‑powered SDLC practices, including AI‑generated unit tests, AI‑assisted documentation, automated code reviews, and architectural suggestions.
• Employ prompt engineering techniques when using AI tools for refactoring, optimization, and design ideation.
• Contribute to building GenAI‑enabled development workflows, patterns, and best practices for the team.
• Experiment with and support Sitecore AI capabilities, including AI‑driven content generation, intelligent search, recommendations, and personalization features.
• Use AI tools to analyze logs, detect anomalies, and improve incident resolution times.
• Participate in continuous learning to stay current with evolving GenAI technologies relevant to modern digital platforms.

Qualifications:

Technical & Platform Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 4–6 years of experience as a Sitecore Developer or in a similar role.
• Experience with multi‑brand, multi‑site, and multi‑lingual Sitecore solutions built with SXA and shared component libraries.
• Basic knowledge of .NET, C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related web development technologies.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud services, preferably Azure.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.

GenAI & Modern Development Qualifications:

• Hands‑on experience using GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar AI coding assistants.
• Understanding of GenAI‑powered SDLC practices and AI‑assisted development workflows.
• Basic to intermediate understanding of prompt engineering for coding, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Ability to identify opportunities for automation using GenAI tools and to accelerate delivery.
• Knowledge or working experience with Sitecore AI, Sitecore Search, or Sitecore Stream is preferred.
• Exposure to AI‑powered content tools, personalization models, or search optimization systems is a plus.
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn and adopt emerging AI technologies within the Sitecore ecosystem.
