Job description

For more than 40 years, Accelya has been the industry’s partner for change, simplifying airline financial and commercial processes and empowering the air transport community to take better control of the future. Whether partnering with IATA on industry-wide initiatives or enabling digital transformation to simplify airline processes, Accelya drives the airline industry forward and proudly puts control back in the hands of airlines so they can move further, faster.

Team / Tech Lead – Software Development (Pune)

Location: Pune, India

Reporting to: Senior Manager – Software Development, FLX ONE Cargo

About Accelya

Accelya is a global leader in airline software, supporting over 200 airlines worldwide with an open, modular platform that enables modern airline retailing. The FLX ONE platform supports airlines across Offer, Order, Settlement, and Delivery (OOSD), aligned with IATA standards for modern retailing. Built on a cloud-native AWS infrastructure and backed by more than 40 years of airline industry expertise, Accelya helps airlines modernise operations, improve customer experience, and scale with confidence.

Role Context

As a Team / Tech Lead, you are first and foremost a senior hands-on engineer who leads by building. You will spend a significant portion of your time writing, reviewing, and evolving production code while guiding a small engineering squad.

This role is intentionally code-heavy. You set direction through architectural choices, code quality, and delivery decisions—not through process overhead. You will work closely with Architects and the Senior Manager to translate architectural intent into clean, modular, production-ready implementations.

What You’ll Own

Hands-On Development (Primary Responsibility)

  • Design and implement core FLX ONE Cargo services and APIs using modern enterprise stacks.

  • Own complex or high-impact parts of the codebase, setting patterns others follow.

  • Prototype, iterate, and refine solutions quickly (“vibe coding”) while maintaining production quality.

  • Actively participate in debugging, optimisation, and incident resolution in production.

Technical Leadership Through Code

  • Lead by example through high-quality code, clear design choices, and pragmatic trade-offs.

  • Perform deep code reviews that improve correctness, performance, and maintainability.

  • Ensure features are built following modular design principles and agreed service boundaries.

Delivery Ownership

  • Own end-to-end delivery of features from design through production rollout.

  • Break down ambiguous requirements into executable technical tasks.

  • Ensure services are observable, operable, and production-ready.

Team Enablement & Mentorship

  • Mentor engineers by pairing, reviewing code, and sharing context—not by managing tasks.

  • Help early-career engineers grow into strong, independent contributors.

  • Foster a culture of ownership, speed, and continuous learning.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Platform Architects and Specialists to implement architectural patterns correctly.

  • Partner with Product to clarify intent and shape technically sound solutions.

  • Collaborate with AI/Data engineers to adopt AI-assisted tooling and developer accelerators where appropriate.

What You Must Bring

  • 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong coding depth.

  • Proven experience acting as a technical lead while remaining deeply involved in implementation.

  • Strong proficiency in modern backend or full-stack development (e.g. .NET, Node.js, Java, or similar).

  • Experience building and operating cloud-native services on AWS or equivalent platforms.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, engineering judgment, and an ownership-driven mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in airline, cargo, logistics, or other integration-heavy enterprise domains.

  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.

  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.

  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding and testing.

Why This Role Matters

This role ensures that FLX ONE Cargo is built by engineers who ship real software, not just plans. As a Team / Tech Lead, your code, decisions, and pace directly influence quality, speed, and the engineering culture that future teams will inherit.

What does the future of the air transport industry look like to you? Whether you’re an industry veteran or someone with experience from other industries, we want to make your ambitions a reality!
