ROLE PURPOSE

The Chief Accountant oversees the company’s financial operations by ensuring accurate accounting, timely financial reporting, and full compliance with internal policies and Insurance Diwan regulations. The role leads the Finance Department, approves payments and journal entries, manages monthly and annual financial closing, and ensures regulatory and tax compliance. Additionally, the Chief Accountant supports strategic financial planning, budgeting, and cost control, monitors accounts receivable performance, and directs internal and external audit processes to maintain financial stability and operational efficiency across the organization.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1 Develops and implements financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals.

2 Prepares annual budgets and rolling forecasts, monitors variances, and recommends corrective actions.

3 Ensures timely financial reporting and full compliance with regulatory, tax, and audit.

4 Manages liquidity, bank relations, and cash-saving initiatives to maintain financial stability.

5 Oversees collection performance across branches and ensures reconciliation with underwriting data, supported by the Receivables Officer.

6 Supervises and approves payments while monitoring expense-control processes, supported by the Payables Officer.

7 Manages treaty and facultative reinsurance financial reporting and ensures alignment with claims data, supported by the Reinsurance Accountant.

8 Supervises accountants and finance staff, builds departmental capability, and ensures effective succession planning.

9 Ensures finance systems are integrated, secure, and continuously updated, in coordination with IT.

10 Implement and monitor internal control procedures and ensure proper documentation.

11 Coordinate with external auditors and provide required documentation during audits.

12 Supervise and develop accounting staff through training and performance reviews.

13 Provides the General Manager and Board with financial insights, performance updates, and strategic financial reports.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.


  • Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably in the insurance or financial services sector.


  • Certifications: Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA) preferred.


  • Languages: Arabic and English – fluent (written & spoken).


  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting standards, ERP systems, and MS Excel.


  • Other Competencies: Confidentiality, organization, accuracy, communication, time management, problem-solving.
