Objective:
Requested a skilled database administrator that is
capable of holding a
position of great responsibility. The Lead DB Admin will be
responsible for the
performance, integrity and security of all databases across
an eco-system of
cloud microservices. Together with a team of DB Admins, they
will be involved in
the planning and development of the databases, as well as
troubleshooting any
issues. To ensure success as a Lead DB Admin, the successful
candidate should
be an excellent problem-solver and communicator that is
fluent in most data
manipulation languages. Ultimately, a top-notch database
administrator with
extensive knowledge of the databases under their
administration and display
sound technical skills and administrative aptitude.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensuring that
• data remains consistent across the databases
• data is clearly defined
• data is secured and backed up with clearly defined and
tested
recovery plans and procedures
• users and systems can access data concurrently and
consistently as
and when required
• Together with other technology peers, to define database
architectural designs,
suggest new and innovative ways to improve data exchange and
continuously
improve performance and data security
• To own and orchestrate data archiving systems and
processes
Essential Skills:
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant
field.
• 8 – 10 years of hands-on experience maintaining multiple
large and small database systems consisting of relational and non-relational
data structures.
• 5 – 10 experience in cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP) hosted,
microservices 5 – 10 years’ experience of building, managing and
monitoring multiple
database engines like Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB,
Cosmos DB, ELK and others.
• Proven track record of leading and managing a team of DB
Admins.
• Interpersonal skills like problem-solving, critical
thinking, ability to understand and explain complex situations and multitasking are key
skills for this role.
Additional Requirements:
• In addition to the responsibilities listed above the post
holder may be required
to perform other duties assigned by the CIO from
time-to-time. Subject to adequate experience and/or training.
