Position Reports to: Instrumentation Discipline Head
Mandatory Requirements:
- Engineering Degree in instrumentation & control / electrical discipline (B.Sc. Engg.)
- 8 years of total post graduation experience
- 5 years instrumentation and control engineering detail design and PMC experience in the buildings, civils
- 3 years in the similar designation
- Middle Est work experience is an advantage.
- Good knowledge in automation software for the specialty (InstruCalc, SmartPlant Instrumentation, FE-Sizer, Microsoft 365, etc).
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation and 3D Modeling Tools (PDS, SP3D, PDMS, CadWorx, AutoPlant, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills essential for Client, Interdisciplinary and Vendor coordination, and coordination with other work-share offices.
- Strong engineering competence, interpersonal / team building skills & leadership skills
Primary objective
- Coordinate and supervise the Control and Instrumentation Engineering aspects of the complex projects to ensure the technical objectives are met within the approved scope, budget, and schedule.
- Supervise, oversee, and coordinate regular and timely technical reviews of Control and Instrumentation related engineering deliverables developed by the EPC Contractor and equipment Vendors.
- To provide input to conceptual studies, FEEDs and detailed design for oil & gas developments projects.
- Process and resolve concession & deviation requests, non-conformities etc. from the EPC Contractors.
- Provide technical assistance and support to the construction and installation activities.
- Ensuring HSSEQ goals, objectives and targets are met through personal leadership and involvement.
Specific Accountabilities
- Review and approve the EPC ad Vendors engineering detailed design documents and ensure they are fully compliant with Project Specification, Client’s standards, international standards and local regulation.
- Ensure that conceptual and detail design work is appropriate for the complexity of the construction tasks.
- Coordinate change control and technical query process within the discipline.
- Review, assess, provide technical support and assist Client in approval of the Concession Requests issued by EPC Contractor.
- Ensure HSSE requirements are addressed in the design.
- Prepare manhour estimates and deliverables lists as required.
- Manage interfaces within the discipline and with other disciplines and with third parties, including KBR Permanent Office.
- Support the Discipline Head and Project Engineering Manager in resolutions of multi-discipline issues.
- Ensuring the actions from the implementation of VIPs are addressed.
- Progress reporting of EPC discipline deliverables.
- Resolution of discipline technical issues.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and safety in design.
- Provide interface with procurement and construction team.
- Identification of software requirements (if applicable) and selection of appropriate design tools.
- Review and approve of deliverables issued by Permanent Office during FEED stage projects and provide technical support.
- Conduct site investigations, prepare reports.
- Participate in process and safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Risk Assessment, EIA, etc.) and 3D Model review.
- Witness and coordinate FAT, IFAT, SAT at Manufacturer premises and ensure close-out of all the technical issues.
- Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system.
- Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Thorough knowledge of industry practices, international codes and standards applicable to instrumentation and control engineering.
- Working knowledge in specialized instrumentation and control systems, such as ICSS, DCS, ESD, F&G,SCADA, PLC, Third-party equipment control systems (Gas Turbines Control Unit, Burner Management System, Compressors Control Units, etc), Condition Monitoring Systems, Management Information Systems, Security Systems (ACS, PIDS, CCTV, BIDS, ANPR, SMS, SCS), Building Management System (BMS), Fiscal Metering, F&G detection, Pipeline Leak Detection Systems, HAZOP, SIL & field instrumentation.
- Experienced in the specification for, evaluation of instrumentation and control discipline related in a PMC environment will be an advantage.
- Ability to work in accordance with broad technical guidelines and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work on multiple assignments to tight deadlines and prioritisation of work to achieve them.
