The Lathe Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining lathe machines to produce precision metal components as per engineering drawings and specifications. The role requires strong technical expertise in machining processes, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The candidate must be able to interpret technical drawings, perform accurate measurements, and ensure consistent output for production requirements.
Set up and operate conventional or CNC lathe machines for turning operations.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and machining specifications.
Select appropriate tools, cutting speeds, and feeds for machining tasks.
Perform turning, facing, threading, drilling, boring, tapering, and knurling operations.
Measure finished components using micrometers, vernier calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure proper functioning of tools and equipment.
Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain part accuracy and tolerances.
Inspect final products to ensure compliance with quality and dimensional standards.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment as per company and industry safety norms.
Report any machine malfunctions, defects, or quality issues to the supervisor immediately.
Diploma / ITI in Mechanical, Machinist, Fitter, or related technical discipline.
Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience operating lathe machines (manual or CNC).
Experience in metal machining, manufacturing, or fabrication industries.
Strong knowledge of lathe machine operations and machining techniques.
Ability to read technical drawings and interpret dimensions accurately.
Skilled in using measuring instruments like micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges.
Knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters, and material properties.
Good understanding of safety protocols and machine operation standards.
Strong problem-solving ability and precision in handling machining tasks.
Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
