We鈥檙e looking for a Backend Engineer to own and evolve the server-side systems that power progression, social features, LiveOps, and live reliability.
This role partners closely with the Technical Director and gameplay engineers to build scalable, secure, and flexible backend services that support a live, content-driven mobile game.
This is a hands-on role on a lean team.
You will help take the backend from early foundations through MVP, soft launch, and live operations - prioritizing clarity, scalability, and developer velocity over over-engineering.
馃幆 Role Focus This role is accountable for: Backend services that support player state, progression, LiveOps, and social systems Reliability, scalability, and security of live services Clean interfaces between backend systems and the Unity client Supporting a fast-moving LiveOps and content pipeline 鈿欙笍 What You鈥檒l Do Backend Architecture & Services Design and implement backend services supporting player accounts, progression, inventories, rewards, leaderboards, and social interactions.
Partner with the Technical Director to define service architecture, data models, and API contracts .
Build systems that support dynamic configuration , LiveOps events, and server-driven tuning.
LiveOps & Scalability Implement backend support for events, tournaments, collections, and limited-time content .
Ensure backend systems scale reliably with player growth and LiveOps spikes.
Monitor service health, logs, and metrics; respond quickly to live issues.
Client Integration & Tooling Collaborate closely with Unity engineers to integrate backend APIs cleanly and safely.
Support internal tools, dashboards, or admin panels required for LiveOps and operations.
Improve developer workflows by automating deployment, configuration, and testing where appropriate.
Security, Stability & Data Integrity Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data validation.
Protect against cheating, exploits, and data corruption.
Ensure player data integrity and safe migrations over time.

Experience building backend services for mobile F2P games or live consumer applications.
Strong experience with server-side development (e.
g., Node.js, Java, Go, Python, or similar).
Solid understanding of RESTful APIs , data modeling, and cloud-based architectures.
Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Comfortable supporting live, event-driven systems .
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Fluent in English; effective in a remote, international team.
馃挕 Nice to Have Experience supporting LiveOps-heavy or social games .
Familiarity with real-time or near-real-time systems (leaderboards, matchmaking-lite, async PvP).
Experience working with licensed IP .
Experience building internal tools or admin dashboards.
Interest in using AI-assisted tools to improve development or operational efficiency.
