Data Engineering Associate Advisor
Position Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Data Engineer with 8–11 years of experience in building robust, scalable data solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Scala, Apache Spark, and Python, along with strong knowledge of database systems and data architecture. This role involves designing and optimizing data pipelines, enabling advanced analytics, and supporting enterprise-wide data initiatives.
Responsibilities
• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Scala, Spark, and Python.
• Design and implement data ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions for structured and unstructured data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders.
• Optimize performance of distributed data processing systems.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across all data workflows.
• Develop and maintain documentation for data processes and architecture.
• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers to foster their growth and development.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues to enhance application performance and reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within the team.
• Be a part of a React Native developer community that shares knowledge and assists one another when problems arise.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8 - 11 years of experience in data engineering or software development.
• Strong programming skills in Scala and Python.
• Expertise in Apache Spark (batch and streaming).
• Solid understanding of SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud platform and data lake architectures.
• Proficiency with CI/CD, Git, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desired Skills & Experience:
• Healthcare domain knowledge.
• Experience with Delta Lake, Databricks, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of Kafka, Airflow, or other orchestration tools.
• Exposure to machine learning pipelines and data science collaboration.
• Understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Strong experience with cloud infrastructure AWS.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid analytical skills, highly organized, self-motivated and a quick learner.
• Flexible and willing to accept change in priorities as necessary.
Location & Hours of Work
• Full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Expected overlap with US hours as appropriate
• Primarily based in the Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India in a hybrid working model (3 days WFO and 2 days WAH)
