Software Engineering Manager

PakWheels.com is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager responsible for leading multiple squads through strong technical mentorship, strategic project execution, and cross-functional collaboration. Drives engineering excellence, team development, and process optimization to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure technical excellence by guiding Squad Leads on scalable architecture, secure code, refactoring, infrastructure, and engineering best practices.
• Participate in critical technical processes like architecture reviews, design discussions, and tech debt management to maintain system integrity and scalability.
• Oversee delivery and execution by managing project timelines, resource allocation, and improving engineering velocity in alignment with OKRs.
• Mentor Squad Leads to develop both their technical and leadership capabilities, supporting performance reviews, feedback, and career growth.
• Foster a strong engineering culture of ownership, psychological safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement across squads.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with Product, QA, DevOps, Data, and Design teams for seamless execution and impact.
• Support organizational planning by working with HR/Talent on hiring, team structure, and engineering-wide initiatives like onboarding and tech talks.
• Evolve engineering processes (Agile/Scrum/Kanban), lead retrospectives, and experiment with improvements for efficient and inclusive team operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• 9+ years in software engineering with 2+ years in technical leadership or engineering management roles
• Led multiple squads with experience mentoring Squad Leads and fostering high-performing teams, with a strong understanding of web & mobile development (Android & iOS)
• Strong knowledge of scalable architecture, clean code practices, and CI/CD implementation
• Skilled in agile and product-led development environments
• Excellent at communication, team development, and aligning tech execution with business needs
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, and exposure to fast-paced tech or marketplace startups is a plus
