Nisum is seeking an experienced Neo4j / Graph Database Developer to support the continued development and scaling of the Yotta platform. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing knowledge graph architectures that integrate heterogeneous biomedical, omics, clinical, and spaceflight-related datasets to enable advanced querying, inference, and AI-driven discovery.


The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Neo4j, graph data modeling, Cypher query optimization, and close collaboration with AI/ML, and data engineering. NOTE: This role is open to Latam applicants.


Key Responsibilities


  • Design and implement Neo4j-based knowledge graph architectures to support Yotta’s biological and biomedical reasoning workflows
  • Develop robust graph data models representing entities such as genes, proteins, pathways, phenotypes, diseases, experimental conditions, and spaceflight variables
  • Build and optimize Cypher queries for complex, multi-hop biological relationships and hypothesis exploration
  • Integrate Neo4j with AI/ML pipelines, including vector databases, embeddings, RAG/GraphRAG workflows, and inference engines
  • Support ingestion of structured and semi-structured data from diverse sources (omics, publications, ontologies, APIs, internal datasets)
  • Implement performance tuning and scaling strategies for large, evolving graphs
  • Collaborate with data scientists, bioinformaticians, and platform engineers to align graph design with downstream analytics and user needs
  • Contribute to documentation, best practices, and architectural decisions for long-term platform maintainability
  • Support security, access control, and data governance considerations within the graph layer

Required Qualifications


  • You must reside in Latam
  • Advanced english skills
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing with Neo4j in production environments
  • Strong expertise in graph data modeling and relationship-centric database design
  • Proficiency in Cypher query language, including optimization and profiling
  • Experience integrating Neo4j with backend services (Python, Java, or similar)
  • Familiarity with knowledge graphs in scientific, biomedical, or complex data domains
  • Understanding of data ingestion pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-moving, research-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications


  • Exposure to AI/ML systems, vector databases, embeddings, or GraphRAG architectures
  • Experience deploying Neo4j in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Knowledge of role-based access control (RBAC) and graph-level security models
  • Prior role as a Sr Data Scientist

Desired Qualifications


  • Desired experience with biological, biomedical, or life-science data (e.g., genomics,proteomics, pathways, disease ontologies)
  • Familiarity with ontologies and standards (e.g., GO, MeSH, MONDO, Reactome, SNOMED, etc.)
  • Prior experience supporting research or discovery platforms
