The Commissioning Electrical Lead Engineer is responsible for leading and managing all electrical commissioning activities for projects, ensuring systems are installed, tested, and commissioned safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements. The role involves coordination with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients to achieve successful project handover.
Lead and manage electrical commissioning activities from pre-commissioning to final handover.
Review electrical drawings, specifications, method statements, and commissioning procedures.
Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, and test procedures.
Supervise testing and commissioning of electrical systems including LV, MV, HV, transformers, switchgear, UPS, generators, motors, and protection systems.
Coordinate with construction, instrumentation, control, and operations teams to ensure smooth commissioning execution.
Identify, record, and resolve commissioning issues, punch points, and non-conformities.
Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and international electrical standards.
Liaise with clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors during commissioning activities.
Review test results, verify performance, and ensure systems meet design and operational requirements.
Prepare and submit commissioning reports, test records, as-built documentation, and handover dossiers.
Support energization, system start-up, and performance testing activities.
Provide technical guidance and leadership to commissioning engineers and technicians.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
Minimum 8–12 years of experience in electrical commissioning, preferably in Oil & Gas, Power Plants, Utilities, Industrial, or Infrastructure projects.
At least 3–5 years of experience in a Lead or Senior Commissioning role.
Proven experience working on large-scale projects in the Middle East (Qatar experience preferred).
Strong knowledge of electrical commissioning practices and procedures.
Hands-on experience with LV, MV, and HV systems.
Expertise in protection relays, transformers, switchgear, generators, and electrical drives.
Familiarity with international standards such as IEC, IEEE, BS, and project-specific specifications.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and schematics.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent coordination, leadership, and communication abilities.
Proficiency in preparing technical reports and commissioning documentation.
